Chrissy Teigen has opened up about the sweet meaning behind her 10-week-old daughter Esti's name.

The model, 37, and her husband John Legend, 44, welcomed their third child earlier this year and also share daughter Luna Simone, seven, and son Miles Theodore, four.

Esti's birth came after the couple also opened up about having a stillbirth with their son Jack in September 2020 at 20 weeks of their pregnancy.

Following the heartbreaking loss, which was caused by partial placental abruption - when the placenta starts to come away from the wall of the womb - John and Chrissy welcomed their rainbow baby this year.

Esti was born on January 13, 2023, via cesarean section, and proud dad John confirmed the news of her birth during a private concert before the couple went public on social media with the happy news.

The couple decided on the name Esti by chance during a trip to Europe where they got married in Lake Como in 2013, with Chrissy revealing on The Kelly Clarkson Show: "We were on vacation where we got married in Italy and I was looking up at the hotel and I kept seeing the Este of it, and then I was like I love the name Este.

"I was just playing around with it and then we came up with Esti."

It was only later that the couple discovered that there was a poignant connection to the name in the family, with Chrissy adding: "John, after we named her Esti, learned that it was actually his great-grandmother's name. I guess maybe it was Esther and then they turned it to Esti."

Esti's middle name is Maxine, which also has a special connection, with John previously telling E! News: "We wanted to already name her middle name Maxine after my grandmother, whose middle name was Maxine. So, it's a lot of my family in the name."

Chrissy also opened up about how much "light and joy" the new baby has brought to the family and how she's fitted in with Luna and Miles.

"It's weird because I thought they would either be very mad at her for just existing or they would want so much attention from me," she admitted. "But they actually love her so much and they want so much attention from me.

"So, it's both. It has a lot to do with her, obviously, but they still shower her with love, every bath in the sink, they crowd around."

She added: "Miles is in this crazy kissing phase where he's kind of practicing a little bit on everything. Miles it's like six in the morning, I feel the kisses and he thinks I'm asleep and it's so cute. He'll do my top lip and bottom lip and then with Esti he's like, 'Ahh!' all in. He loves it, he's so affectionate."

John had also previously opened up about how well the couple's two older kids had taken to a new sibling - something which can be a fraught time as young kids adapt to their parents having to give their attention to a newborn baby.

He told People in February: "[It's] very exciting. I was just saying my kids are doing so well. My older kids are doing so well with her and [she] just fills the house up with more love."
