Dan Bilzerian has revealed that he has known Salt Bae is "weird" for years, recently sharing DMs from the famous Turkish chef.
Salt Bae, 39, caused a stir online after posting images of himself holding and posing with the coveted FIFA World Cup trophy following Argentina's nail-biting win against France. Many soccer fans vented their frustrations in the comments section, writing that it was disrespectful for the chef to touch the award, given that he hadn't participated in the game.
FIFA has stated on its official website that the trophy is only allowed to be held by a select few people, writing: "Its current design dates back to 1974. As one of the most recognized sports symbols in the world and a priceless icon, the original Fifa World Cup Trophy can only be touched and held by a very select group of people, which includes former winners of the Fifa World Cup and heads of state."
One video even circulated of Salt Bae tugging on Argentinian player Lionel Messi's jersey to try and get a picture, while the soccer player was celebrating his nation's win with his teammates. Netizens savagely trolled the chef, calling him desperate and pathetic.
Now, Armenian-American poker player and internet personality Bilzerian has taken to Instagram to provide apparent evidence that he's known how "weird" Salt Bae is "for years."
Posting in an Instagram story to his 33.6 million followers, the 42-year-old uploaded screen recordings of his private Instagram messages from Salt Bae - who appears to have regularly sent him images of himself to which Bilzerian did not reply. He had added a text overlay on the clip that read: "Everyone talking about how weird this Salt Bae is, I be knowing that for years [sic]."
"What a f**king goofball," Bilzerian added.
The images appear to include the Turkish personality wielding knives, posing with large hunks of meat, and even holding puppies. It is unknown whether he has sent Bilzerian any further images of himself, though, after having his private DMs aired it doesn't appear likely.
