If you're lucky enough to have Dolly Parton's number, you still shouldn't be surprised not to get a text back from the country music icon.
The singer, 77, has opened up about her hatred of texting, admitting she's "old-school" when it comes to methods of communication.
Appearing on Monday's episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, Dolly revealed she refuses to learn to text, instead choosing to use her fax machine to get her messages across.
She revealed the reason she won't ever text anyone is because then she'll have to answer when they reply.
Dolly explained: "I'm a low-tech girl in a high-tech world. I don’t want to talk to everybody that wants to talk to me. I don’t text because I don’t want to have to answer."
Relatable.
The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer added that she will answer the phone or call someone back later - but only if they're someone she wants to speak to, explaining: "Otherwise, I’ve got too much to think about than to clutter my mind up with everything else."
The '9 to 5' singer also made it clear that her refusal to text is not because she wouldn't be able to learn how to do it, but simply because she doesn't want to.
"I’m certainly not a stupid person. I could learn it if I wanted to, but I’d rather just have my fax machine, call in my creative stuff to my crew," she told Drew, 48. "And I’ve got the best crew in the world, and I surround myself with great people, but I just don’t have time to just sit with my face in the phone all day."
Acquaintances need not be offended by the lack of communication as Dolly's own goddaughter Miley Cyrus has revealed she also speaks to her mainly by fax.
Appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers in May 2022, Miley confirmed: "It was amazing because, you know, she was doing it for the phones yet every time I coordinate and kind of communicate with Dolly, it’s still through fax."
She revealed that she still gets Dolly's messages to her phone, but the country star "does a fax, and then someone scans the fax, and then they put it into a text message, and then that gets sent to me. And it’s always signed."
Miley added: "She has a phone, she just doesn't use it."
The 'Jolene' singer recently released a rock album titled Rockstar, on which she duetted with Miley on a new version of her goddaughter's song 'Wrecking Ball'.
She spoke highly of Miley's work as a singer, telling Drew: "She's so talented, so special."
Despite being a living legend, Dolly revealed she doesn't give Miley advice on her career, adding: "Miley is Miley. She's going to know what to do.
"She knows who she is. She knows what she needs and she goes about it. She's willing to sacrifice for it and I always have been too."
