Celebrity makeup artist and Face Off star, Laney Chantal, has sadly passed away at the age of 33.

Her family penned a public obituary detailing her short life, revealing that she died as a result of an accidental drug overdose on Halloween in Michigan.

The obituary described the talented special effects makeup artist as a fun-loving, athletic teen, writing: "[Laney] grew up in Manitou Beach with her parents and two older sisters.

"She attended Saint Joseph's academy for elementary and junior high where she participated in Lenawee County 4-H, soccer, basketball, and graduated from Hudson High School in 2007. As a teen, Alaina spent a lot of time with her friends skateboarding, attending concerts and plenty of summer days at the lakes."

After finishing high school, Laney moved to Los Angeles, where attended a Cinema Makeup School and became certified in special effects makeup.

"Laney, as she was known by many, lived her life to the fullest, and accomplished more in her short time on earth, than most do in a full lifetime, including being a contestant on SY/FY networks makeup competition Face Off and the lead makeup artist for Video of the Year on MTV's Video Music Awards 2021," the obituary highlighted.

Laney definitely boasted quite the portfolio following her appearance on Face Off, a special effects makeup competition show, in 2013. She worked with multiple celebrities - including Marilyn Manson, Bella Thorne, and Lil Nas X on his music video for 'Montero (Call Me By Your Name),' The New York Post detailed.

Gabriella Accarino, a fellow makeup artist who was close to Laney, posted a heartfelt tribute to the late artist on Instagram, writing: "Laney was more than a best friend. She was my sister and soulmate. I can't explain the depth of the bond we had. She was a genuine, hilarious, thoughtful, talented, and beautiful soul. Laney's art and her spirit are irreplaceable, and she made the world a better place."

"She was one of a kind. My last memory with her was riding on four wheelers in Michigan until sunset. You deserved the world, and you were loved by so many people. You forever changed my life and taught me, unconditional love. You were a gift in my life, and I will cherish every moment I spent with you. I will carry you in my heart forever, Laney. I know we will meet again," she added.

Laney's family has asked friends and other loved ones to donate to The Brain and Behaviour Research Foundation, an organization committed to funding research into advancing scientific research into mental health.

Our thoughts go out to Chantal's family, friends, and fans at this time.
