The trailer of Blake Lively's most recent feature debuted earlier this week, and she's pretty much unrecognisable.

The Rhythm Section is your classic spy thriller. It revolves around Lively's character, Stephanie Patrick, embarking on a path of self-destruction after she discovers that the plane crash which killed her family was not, in fact, an accident. Stephanie proceeds to voyage into the darkness to seek revenge, and to ultimately find her own redemption.

But as we know, no movie of this ilk is complete without a tonne of different disguises and sartorial get-ups, and Lively certainly looked like a completely different person in her dark pixie cut.

Check out Lively's new 'do in the following trailer:

Lively certainly seemed to be fond of the new style, as she posted a picture of it to Instagram.

It's safe to say that the reaction on social media was mixed. "Is she playing liza minnelli?" one Instagram user questioned, while another wrote that it "Looks beautiful".

Others compared the actress's new hair to that worn by Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones, which is quite fitting given Lively's character arc in The Rhythm Section.

Reed Moreno - who we know from The Handmaid's Tale - directed the feature, and the script was penned by the author of the novel that the The Rhythm Section is based on, Mark Burnell. Bond producers, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, also lent a helping hand.

Jude Law, Sterling K. Brown, Daniel Mays and Raza Jaffrey all star alongside Lively. And the film is due to premiere in the US on January 31, 2020, and a little later in the UK, on February 21, 2020.

Oh, and to add to the mystery, Lively shared the intense trailer on her Twitter, with the rather interesting plea: "Please, whatever you do. Don't click on this..."
