It's fair to say that many TV fans have been caught off-guard with the latest season of HBO hit-series, Euphoria.
The angsty teen drama is back on our screens for the first time in four years, but the reviews haven't been great so far.
While the series has welcomed back the likes of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and others from previous seasons, the show's premise has taken a turn.
Instead of focusing on dramatic highschoolers, season three explores the character's new paths in life, from Rue's (Zendaya) run-ins with the cartel, to Cassie's (Sweeney) venture into OnlyFans, despite ending up with Nate (Elordi).
Yet, it's the latter storyline causing all the controversy, especially given that Sweeney had been made to dress up in some particularly revealing outfits as Cassie aims to grow her following on the NSFW site.
The first images of Cassie's OnlyFans career involved Sweeney dressing as a sexualised child, wearing almost nothing while holding a pacifier in her mouth.
She can be seen sporting pigtails while lying on her back with her legs in the air, while her bare chest is on show.
The first couple of episodes of season three reveal that the character is now a restless housewife in California who ends up with Nate, but she turns to OnlyFans to raise more funds for her dream wedding.
“I just feel like if more people knew me, I would be huge,” the character can be heard saying in the early episodes of the season.
The baby outfit would be followed up with dog-inspired lingerie, with Cassie drinking out of dog bowls for her fans in another humiliating turn for the character.
While Sweeney could be seen using a skipping rope in a skimpy bodysuit, the showrunners have taken it one step further with the latest episode, titled 'American Dream'.
In this episode, Sweeney took part in a divisive nude scene, prompting fans to claim that the series might have "gone too far".
Cassie's former best friend Maddy (Alexa Demie) joins her OnlyFans venture, as she offers to help manage her career.
There are more poses for adult content in this episode, with one shot showing ice cream dripping down her arm and off the actress' nude chest.
Another shot sees Cassie in nothing but a US-flag around her body, while a baseball-themed shot showed Sweeney's character in nothing but a thong, as she covers her breasts.
The 28-year-old is sporting a backwards baseball cap, a glove and shin pads, while on her knees.
Rue could be heard saying in a voiceover: "It's a shame she was with Nate. Cassie was exactly the kind of girl you'd dream of signing.
"Beautiful, but directionless. So desperate for attention, she's willing to humiliate herself."
Many took to social media after Sunday's (April 19) episode, sharing their shocked thoughts.
One said on X: "I’m glad everyone in Euphoria also thinks Cassie dressing as an adult baby is f**king weird."
Another added: "Honestly, Euphoria has always pushed boundaries, but it does feel like this season is going a bit too far for shock value.
"I get that it’s trying to portray dark and uncomfortable themes, but there’s a fine line between storytelling and unnecessary degradation."
Another said that the images were "pathetic", and "lame and disgusting" to see.
