Shannon Elizabeth - best known for playing Nadia in American Pie, the role that made her one of the biggest sex symbols of the early 2000s - is joining OnlyFans at the age of 52.
The actress, who also starred in the original Scary Movie, has announced that her account is live on the platform from April 16, and she's been pretty clear about why she's doing it.
In an interview with People, Elizabeth said the move is about taking back control after years of having other people call the shots.
"I've spent my entire career working in Hollywood, where other people controlled the narrative and the outcome of my career," she said.
"This new chapter is about changing that, showing off a more sexy side no one has seen, and being closer to my fans."
She added: "I'm choosing OnlyFans because it allows me to connect directly with my audience, create on my own terms, and just be free. I really do think this is the future."
In a separate statement, Elizabeth said that reconnecting with fans through public appearances had reminded her how much she'd missed the energy of that direct interaction.
"OnlyFans gives me the opportunity to offer something more - a behind the scenes, unfiltered look at my life and a genuine connection that no other platform allows," she said.
"This is also where I'll be sharing exclusive content that you simply won't find anywhere else."
She was keen to stress that the decision isn't about reinventing herself entirely.
"This isn't just content to watch from a distance," she said.
"This is for the people who have always shown up for me, and I want them to feel that."
If you haven't heard much from Elizabeth in recent years, that's partly because she's been living a very different life to the one most people would associate with the actress who once made a generation of teenage boys lose their minds in the 1999 comedy.
She's been based in South Africa for several years, where she has focused heavily on conservation and charity work.
She made clear in her announcement that this side of her life isn't going anywhere.
"My charity work remains incredibly close to my heart," she said.
"But this feels like the perfect moment to open up my world to the fans who have been with me throughout this journey."
The move also comes after what appears to be a split from her husband, South African conservation specialist Borchert, whom she married in 2021 after the pair first met in 2015.
Elizabeth hinted at the breakup in a Facebook post this week, writing about 'resets' in life and being 'grateful for quiet moments'.
Elizabeth joins a growing list of high-profile celebrities who have turned to OnlyFans in recent years.
Carmen Electra, Mia Khalifa, and Bhad Bhabie have all built significant followings on the platform.
Perhaps the most notable example, though, is The Sopranos star Drea de Matteo, who launched her OnlyFans account in 2025 and went viral after revealing that the money she earned in her first month was enough to save her home from foreclosure.
De Matteo has previously spoken about having just $10 in her bank account before joining the platform - a stark reminder that even well-known actors don't always have the financial security that people assume comes with Hollywood fame.
For Elizabeth, though, the motivation appears to be less about money and more about autonomy.
After more than two decades of having her image shaped by studios and casting directors, she's decided to take the reins herself.
Whether fans will sign up to see a 'more sexy side' of the woman who defined an era of teen comedy remains to be seen - but given the reaction online, she probably won't be short of subscribers.
