The 1993 family movie Hocus Pocus, which has firmly reached cult status over the last couple of decades, is finally getting a sequel, according to Variety.

Per Variety, the sequel is all set to be directed by Hairspray (2007) director Adam Shankman, whose other directing credits include Step Up, A Walk to Remember and What Men Want.

While the original movie starred Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy, the actresses are not currently attached to the upcoming Hocus Pocus film. But it is hoped that the trio will reprise their roles.

In 2018, Sarah Jessica Park appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and talked about her role in the movie. She confessed to not remembering much about the filming process and the actual plot.

“I don’t have a lot of memories. I remember the filming of it. I just don’t remember what the movie’s about as much,” she said.

“Three witches, I’ve been told that, and apparently my character’s not very bright,” she added. “But I fly and sing and I think I like to suck the life … I think I like to kill children? I don’t know.”

There were, however, some details that the actress has managed to retain in her memory of the beloved family comedy.

“They’d call ‘cut’ and they’d go to lunch or maybe they’d change the lens, and I’d just stay up there [on the broom],” she continued. “I could fit an entire New York Times up the back of the corset. And I found that the harness was comfortable, so I would just sit up there and read the Times while people took their breaks or changed the camera and some time went to lunch.”
