Since its 2003 debut, the Richard Curtis classic has become a beloved Christmas staple, filling us with warm fuzzies and a craving for more of its lovable characters and intertwined stories.
But did you know there’s actually a sequel? That’s right — a follow-up to the iconic rom-com exists, and it’s the holiday surprise you didn’t know you needed!
Back in 2017, as part of the Red Nose Day charity campaign, several members of the original Love Actually cast reunited for a 15-minute sequel titled Red Nose Day Actually.
Not only did it bring us up to speed on some of our favorite characters, but it also raised funds to help alleviate child poverty worldwide - an endeavor in keeping with the spirit of Christmas.

Despite its brief runtime, Red Nose Day Actually packed plenty of emotional punches and comedic moments, serving as a delightful glimpse into the lives of these characters nearly 15 years after we last saw them.
Fans were thrilled to see many of the original cast reprising their roles, including Hugh Grant, Martine McCutcheon, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, Keira Knightley, Andrew Lincoln, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rowan Atkinson, and Bill Nighy. The short film revisited their stories, giving us closure — and a few surprises!
One of the standout revelations? Juliet (Keira Knightley) and Peter (Chiwetel Ejiofor) are still happily married! For those of us who worried about that love triangle with Mark (Andrew Lincoln) in the original film, rest assured — Mark moved on and found love elsewhere. Phew!
What would a Love Actually sequel be without Hugh Grant busting a move? The beloved actor returned as the charming British Prime Minister, delivering a speech brimming with warmth and optimism. And yes, he even treated us to a new dance scene that fans of the original will adore.
Meanwhile, Bill Nighy’s aging rock star Billy Mack offered his signature mix of hilarity and heartfelt reflection, reminding us that love—whether romantic, platonic, or familial—only grows stronger with time.
One poignant aspect of Red Nose Day Actually was how it honored the late Alan Rickman, who played Emma Thompson’s husband, Harry, in the original film. Although Emma Thompson did not reprise her role, the sequel delicately addressed Karen’s storyline, showing she had moved on and found happiness.
Over on X, fans voiced their surprise, with one person writing: "Ok, how in the WORLD am I just discovering the 16 minute sequel to Love Actually from 2017?!?! Did everyone else know about this but me?!!?"
A second added: "Found out today that Love Actually has a sequel called Red Nose Day Actually."
If you’re just now discovering Red Nose Day Actually, you’re in for a festive treat. It’s like an early Christmas present, offering fans a chance to catch up with old friends and see how their lives unfolded after the credits rolled.
So, grab some hot cocoa, fire up your favorite streaming platform, and prepare for a cozy reunion with the characters you’ve missed.
