There's no doubt that Stranger Things has been one of Netflix's most successful original shows.

A deliciously creepy eighties throwback to the works of Stephen King, John Carpenter, and John Hughes, with a hefty dose of The Goonies dumped in for good measure, the show has amassed a gigantic fanbase, and the third season was a hit with audiences and critics alike.

(Spoilers ahead for those who haven't caught up yet!)

So the third season ended on a number of pretty big cliffhangers, with Sheriff Hopper seemingly killed, and the Byers family moving out of Hawkins.

Not only that, but the looming appearance of The Mind Flayer seems to tease at the fact that more eldritch horrors are planning an incursion into our dimension from the Upside-Down.

Because of this, fans have been desperate to know what will happen next to the characters they've fallen in love with since season one. But now, it appears that Netflix has allegedly begun filming the fourth instalment of Stranger Things after a fan leaked a supposed picture of filming to Reddit.

A Reddit user going by the handle 'ChihuahuaWithBoombox', who lives in Rome in Georgia, took to the social media site to share an image they snapped of Hopper's car.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunners Ross and Matt Duffer confirmed that the fourth season would be a little bit unconventional.

They stated: "We have the big broad strokes. It’s just now about filling in those lines in the details. We’re pretty excited about where it’s potentially going to go. Again, like we said, it’s going to feel very different than this season. But I think that’s the right thing to do and I think it’ll be exciting.”

Netflix hasn't formally confirmed that filming has begun, which means that they must want the production to be kept relatively secret. And this seems to suggest that we'll see some big twists in season four!
