If you're a lover of all things true crime, and you can't wait to catch the next season of Mindhunter, then you're probably going through a bit of a drought at the moment.

If that's the case, then I have some good news for you that's going to mean that all your patience will pay off soon. What am I talking about? I'll tell you: Netflix has just released a trailer for its upcoming movie Lost Girls, based on the true-crime story of missing person Shannan Gilbert, and it looks pretty damn terrifying.

Take a look at the disturbing trailer for the movie below:

Directed by Liz Garbus, based on a script written by screenwriter Michael Werwie, and based upon the book of the same name by Robert Kolker, the movie stars Amy Ryan, Thomasin McKenzie, Lola Kirke, Oona Laurence, Dean Winters, Miriam Shor, Reed Birney, Kevin Corrigan, and Gabriel Byrne.

The story follows a distressed mother named Mari Gilbert, as she pushes the police to find her missing daughter, Shannan.

However, in the course of the investigation into Shannan's whereabouts, investigators unearthed evidence that a serial killer of sex workers had been operating in the area since 1996. The case remains unsolved, and the deaths of 20 women whose bodies were found scattered on Ocean Parkway have since been attributed to the Long Island Ripper, while Shannan Gilbert's whereabouts remain unknown.

The movie is currently all set to premiere at the Sundance film festival on 28 January, and is scheduled to be released to Netflix on March 13, 2020. Personally, I can't wait to check out this film when it's ready to be streamed.
