When it comes to horror, there's perhaps no better expert than Stephen King.
The beloved author is the mind behind some of the most chilling tales to ever be published, with many of his great literary classics quickly being adapted for the big and small screens.

In fact, some of the most iconic horror movies to exist stem from the mind of King - such as Carrie (1976), The Shining (1980), Children of the Corn (1984), Misery (1990), and Gerald's Game (2017).
Therefore, if I'm looking for a movie or TV show that's going to leave me unable to sleep with the lights off, then I'm going to listen to King.
And one there's one show currently streaming on Netflix that King has spoken very highly of.
The eight-part series follows a famous horror writer (okay, we may have figured out why King likes it so much) called Emma.
However, the author's world is quickly shattered when she learns that one of the characters she writes in her horror novels exists in the real world and is tormenting Emma's loved ones.
Check out the trailer below:
Titled Marianna, the show was created by Samuel Bodin and Quoc Dang Tran and stars Victoire Du Bois, Lucie Boujenah, and Tiphaine Daviot.
And after streaming the series on Netflix, King was quick to praise the show, writing in a previous tweet on X: "If you're one of those sickos--like me--who enjoys being scared, MARIANNE (Netflix) will do the job.
"There are glints of humor that give it a STRANGER THINGS vibe. It also has (I say it with all due modesty) a Stephen King vibe."
Talk about high praise!

And since the show's release back in 2019, it has perhaps flown under the radar with English-speaking viewers, despite boasting an impressive 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and a further 7.7/10 on IMDb (which is high praise for a horror).
And over on X, viewers were quick to share their praise, with one person writing: "Two episodes in and I have to say that French horror series Marianne (on Netflix) is one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen. Skin-crawling horror masterclass."
Another added: "How everyone isn’t still talking about MARIANNE is a crime. Best horror series on Netflix. Really cool world building with an antagonist you can actually remember!"
A third tweeted: "Finally started Marianne on Netflix and this is hands down the best horror series I've seen in a long time. Compelling story, well rounded characters, and this is definitely going to give me nightmares."

So, what are you waiting for?
Marianne is available to stream on Netflix now... if you dare.
