For the best part of a decade now, Game of Thrones has been ruining the lives of its fans with its constant plot twists, stress-inducing storylines, and apparent apathy towards the wellbeing of any of our favourite characters. Ned Stark, Hodor, Oberyn, Rickon, Ygritte - we watched them all meet their demise over the years (sometimes in more grotesque ways than others), often without even a hint of warning for what was about to come.

So, with that in mind, everyone is just a tiny bit worried about what the powers that be have in store for the few surviving characters. What will become of the White Walkers? Will Jon and Daenerys be grossed out by their incestuous relationship? Could it be possible that Samwell Tarly is actually the rightful heir to the throne (god, I hope so)?

And - most importantly - what will become of the surviving Starks?

Well, in a recent interview with Digital Spy, Sophie Turner - the actress who plays Sansa Stark - hinted that her character comes out on top.

"Finally, she has the strength of her family behind her," the 22-year-old said.

"She's used Littlefinger for all he has. As she said, 'Thank you for all your lessons'. He has nothing left to give her. So she is so empowered. She has a family behind her. She has Littlefinger, Cersei, Margaery, everyone's wisdom and teachings all behind her.

"She's a real, true leader of Winterfell now. And that's where we first see her – as a very protective, empowered lady in charge. It's the first time you ever see her like that, and it's so amazing to see her like that – kind of owning her destiny."

However, just a matter of weeks ago, she said that the overall ending of the series was totally "unpredictable".

"For me – without giving anything away, I guess – I was satisfied with how unpredictable the show’s ending really is. People have come up with so many fan theories about how it’s going to end, and who will end up where, and who will end up with who. It really is so unpredictable the way that it ends up. I’m very satisfied with that, and I think that the fans will be satisfied with that, too."

Despite her sadness at the show finally reaching its finale, though, Turner sais that she is incredibly grateful to have been given such an opportunity - especially as she managed to score a part as someone who didn't die within the first few episodes.

"I've been so, so lucky [because] it's the biggest acting part I think I could have ever had," she said.

"To be able to take her through the motions of being beaten down, and growing and eventually evolving – literally season by season, you see a huge change in her.

"And now we've got to the point where she's this steely, strong, manipulative, intelligent, kind, young woman, and it's completely the opposite of who she was at the beginning of the series."

So, while it's sad to see Sansa's story come to an end, we can only hope that she makes it out alive.
