Harry Potter reunion shares first trailer with full cast returning to Hogwarts - and fans feel old

Harry Potter fans have been treated to a sneak preview of the cast's one-off reunion.

Stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson are just some of the familiar faces who'll be boarding the Hogwarts Express and returning to the magical school for a special episode in January.

The reunion - which celebrates the first film in the franchises' 20th anniversary - is set to air on New Years Day 2022.

Now, in the first official trailer for the event, Sky and HBO Max have given Potter fans an exclusive preview of what to expect - and it looks emotional.

In the video, Watson - who played Hermione Granger - can be seen walking along platform 9 3/4, where the iconic steam train departs for Hogwarts.

The trailer then cuts to a view of Hogwarts' Great Hall (or the original set of it in Warner Bros Studio Tour London) where cast members greet each other joyfully and giggle over champagne.

Radcliffe - who famously brought the titular wizard to live - admits in a voice over what the reunion means to him, saying:

"The thing that scared me the most was the implication that the most meaningful thing in our life was done. And there's something so joyous about seeing everyone and being like, 'It wasn't'."

"It's a strong bond that we'll always have," adds Grint, who played his best friend and sidekick Ron Weasley. "We're family. We'll always be part of each other's lives."

Elsewhere in the trailer, we see stars Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes reminisce about their roles in the wizarding world.

Alongside them, the episode will feature special appearances from Gary Oldman, Robbie Coltrane, Matthew Lewis, Tom Felton, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Oliver Phelps, James Phelps, Jason Isaacs, Imelda Staunton, Alfred Enoch, and Evanna Lynch.

Unsurprisingly, fans couldn't be more excited about the magical reunion event.

"Potentially more excited for this than Christmas..." one tweeted.

"CANT. WAIT. TO. WATCH. THIS !!!!!!!" wrote another.

But the trailer also left some fans feeling old after seeing how much the actors - who they first knew as baby-faced 11-year-olds - have changed.

"How is Harry Potter 20 years old?!?! HOW?!?!" commented one user.

"I'm not readyyyyy for harry potter 20th anniversary," added another. "Feeling super old now."

"Can't wait to spend my new years watching that Harry Potter reunion and crying over how f***ing old I'm getting," wrote a third.
