Heidi Klum has turned off her Instagram comments amid backlash over a "controversial" lingerie photoshoot with her daughter.

It all started when the America's Got Talent judge decided to post a series of photos from a photoshoot alongside Leni Klum, in collaboration with the Italian lingerie brand Intimissimi.

The photos showed off the mother-daughter-duo in matching, lace lingerie sets - Heidi donning a lilac two-piece with lace trimming, while Leni sported a white one with rainbow bead detailing as well as a satin over shirt.

The pair were also holding hands as they posed for the camera.

Despite the post merely advertising "the heart of Italian lingerie", it seems as though a lot of fans were left displeased at the premise of the shoot, which was branded as "weird" and "embarrassing."

Things got so intense that the 49-year-old was forced to turn off the comments on the post. Leni, however, also reposted the same photos but left hers on which meant that a lot of the hate ended up on her account too.

"I would not be proud to show my daughter off in this way," wrote one user. "I would feel embarrassed and sad."

And this user joked: "First thing I think of when I want to pose in my intimates: 'my mom should be here!'"

A third agreed with the stance commenting: "Ngl this is big weird, mother and daughter posing in lingerie together tf."

"Ewwww what mom would want to pose with their daughter in bra and panties for the world to see," another added.

And the comments weren't just reserved for Instagram.

Other people took to Twitter to also express similar views.

But not everyone was so opposed to the shoot, with comments praising the pair also appearing amongst the hate on both Twitter and Instagram.

This user tweeted: "Good for Heidi Klum for posing in a lingerie ad with her daughter! They are both stunning women so they should ignore the prudes who criticized them! F*** the prudes!"

Another described the haters as "sour grapes," adding that they were just jealous that they didn't look like either women.

Back in October last year, Heidi was forced to turn off her comments on another similar set of photos from the same shoot after it was flooded with hate.

Speaking of the backlash, Leni told Page Six that she wasn't too fazed by the online trolling.

"I honestly didn’t look at a lot of the reactions," she told the outlet. "I am overall happy with the campaign and I had an amazing day with my mom. I think the photos turned out great, and we had an amazing time."

The 19-year-old then went on to talk about how she avoids looking at online comments and theories in general so she isn't usually aware of any criticism.

"I just don’t look at it, honestly," she said. "If I don’t look at it, I don’t have to pay any attention to it, so I just don’t know what is there."
