Jay Leno has spoken out following an incident involving a gasoline fire that took place over the weekend.
The former Tonight Show host was working in his garage when one his cars unexpectedly burst into flames, leaving him with "serious burns".
The 72-year-old TV personality burned the left side of his face, but luckily there was no damage to his eyes or ears, per TMZ.
The comedian was taken by ambulance to the burn ward at Grossman Burn Center in Los Angeles and remains there as he receives further treatment for his injuries.
The news of the burns was revealed a day after the star pulled out of a performance in Las Vegas for a Financial Brand conference.
The statement read: "[Leno's] family was not able to provide us very many details, but there was a very serious medical emergency that is preventing Jay from traveling.
"All we know is that he is alive, so our prayers go out to him and his family tonight".
The iconic talk show host has since put fans' minds at ease. "I got some serious burns from a gasoline fire. I am ok. Just need a week or two to get back on my feet," he said in a statement to Variety.
Aimee Bennett, the director of strategic communications at the West Hills Hospital and Medical Center in Los Angeles, revealed to USA TODAY that the comedian "wants everyone to know that he is in stable condition".
She continued: "He is in good humor and is touched by all the inquiries into his condition and well wishes. He wants to let everyone know he is doing well and is in 'the best burn center in the United States.'"
News of a "serious medical emergency" worried fans as the star is very open about his battle against high cholesterol. In 2019 he opened up about the diagnosis that he received two decades ago.
"Go to a doctor, and find out what [medicine] you should take and maybe augment that with laughter," Leno explained. "Laughter [alone] is a terrible medicine, it doesn't do anything. It's amusing and fun, but as a medicine it just sucks."
The comedian is in "good spirits" and we wish him a speedy recovery.
