He took to Instagram late on Wednesday night, telling fans: "Grateful for the flood of prayers and positive vibes that surrounded me during a genuinely frightening time.

"The scare was real, but so was the support."

Kel added: "With the grace of God and the skill of the medical team, I’m now on the road to recovery at home, embraced by the love of my family.

"Your kindness has been a lifeline, and I can’t thank you enough. Much love to each of you."

Kenan and Kel have long been fan favorites after their sitcom began on Nickelodeon in 1996. The show ran until 2001 and even had a spin-off movie, Good Burger, which was released in 1997.

The pair reprised their roles in the follow-up film, Good Burger 2, with Kel playing fast food cashier Ed, while Kenan plays inventor Dexter, as they run into each other once again at their old workplace.

The movie is due to be released on November 22, and will also feature roles from Carmen Electra, Yung Gravy, Liza Koshy, and Kai Cenat among others.

Kel previously revealed that he has maintained a strict workout schedule in order to look as much like he did 26 years ago when the original aired as possible.

He told Us Weekly: "I want to make sure I still look the same. I do a lot of calisthenics. I do a lot of HIIT workouts, high-intensity workouts.

"I do 45 minutes in the morning, and then throughout the day, I do micro-workouts."

Kel also promised that the Good Burger sequel will be worth the almost three-decade wait, adding: "Me and Kenan are making sure [it’s] super, super funny."

He also addressed how he and Kenan grew apart for a while after the show ended, adding: "You have to think about it, when you’re adulting within the limelight and you are just trying to find yourself within this business … we just went different ways. But I think that happens with everybody."

Kel explained: "[It’s like] when you’re in high school and your friends went to different colleges, but then you stayed in contact and now you’re experiencing life as adults now.

"It’s just such an awesome thing. And to still be friends after that entire journey is awesome."

We hope Kel is feeling better soon.
