Johnny Depp celebrated winning his multi-million dollar defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard by partying with Brits and enjoying a traditional plate of fish and chips in a UK pub.
After 14 hours of deliberation, jurors announced yesterday that Heard did in fact defame her former husband when she claimed to be a domestic abuse survivor in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed.
The court awarded Depp $15 million in damages in the culmination of the high-profile legal battle which has raged in Fairfax, Virginia, over the last six weeks.
However, the Pirates of the Caribbean star was nowhere to be seen when the verdict was read out. Instead, he was spotted around the same time in a small British pub in the UK city of Newcastle.
Stunned onlookers watched as the Hollywood superstar took a table at The Bridge Tavern with musician Sam Fender, then ordered a $17 plate of battered fish and chips.
General manager Janine Latchford recalled the surreal experience to Chronicle Live, explaining that Depp was accompanied by some friends and did not want anyone to recognize him. According to Latchford, the actor was even given his own private space.
She went on to describe how Depp chatted with one of the bar staff about her baby bump and asked questions about the local bridge.
Depp even felt the need to comment on how incredible his fish and chips dish was - which was most likely a welcome statement with the people of Newcastle given that it's a quintessentially English dish.
Later in the evening, Depp chatted with some locals in the pub, sharing a beer with them and posing for photos. The 58-year-old actor has been in the UK since the weekend, when he shocked fans with a surprise performance alongside his friend Jeff Beck in Sheffield.
Depp and Beck performed several numbers together including John Lennon's 'Isolation', Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On', and Jimi Hendrix's 'Little Wing'.
Some days later, he was back on stage with Beck for the London leg of his tour. The two rocked out at the Royal Albert Hall to a standing ovation from delighted fans.
