Leave The World Behind viewers are now wondering if the movie was a warning sent to the United States via the Obamas.

Directed and produced by Sam Esmail, Netflix's Leave The World Behind tells the story of a family getaway that takes a turn for the worst after the members are subjected to a cyberattack that completely knocks out their devices in their luxury villa - and then, out of the blue, two random strangers appear at their door.

"As the threat grows more imminent, both families must decide how best to survive the potential crisis, all while grappling with their own place in this collapsing world," concludes the official synopsis.

Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha’la, and Kevin Bacon all star alongside each other in the film, which makes it just that little bit more irresistible.

However, as per the New York Post, it’s also the first feature film from High Ground, the production company founded by former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama in 2018, and obviously, any form of involvement from the Obamas would invoke wild conspiracy theories.

"It is happening. They even told us the countries. Come on now. We’re at the 'scramble the enemy' stage. See Palestine vs. Israel, Russia vs. Ukraine, Liz Cheney vs. the GOP, antifa vs fascists, 2nd civil war, it’s a big list," wrote one user.

Others were also concerned at the storyline, with another writing: "Have yall watched 'Leave the world behind'? I feel so uneasy because this can easily happen TOMORROW," to which someone else replied: "Forget tomorrow, we’re pretty much on step 2. Step 3 is coming and the Obamas are mocking all of us who don’t live in the Hamptons as they warn us it’s coming."

"The movie 'Leave the World Behind' is definitely a message to what’s happening and what’s to come. It’s very much in line with what we’ve been saying for years: Stock up on none perishables and water. Also, the fact that the Obamas are exec prod'ers is making my dog ears go up," this concerned user also added.

Esmail previously talked about what it was like working alongside the Obamas during an interview with Vanity Fair.

"President Obama, having the experience he does have, was able to ground me a little bit on how things might unfold in reality," the creator said.

"He had a lot of notes about the characters and the empathy we would have for them," he continued. "I have to say he is a big movie lover, and he wasn’t just giving notes about things that were from his background. He was giving notes as a fan of the book, and he wanted to see a really good film."

Leave The World Behind is now available to watch on Netflix.
