Netflix's new psychological thriller is landing on the streaming platform tomorrow - and let's just say, we're all looking forward to it.

With all the latest movies and TV shows being added to Netflix, it can be difficult to know what to watch next, but there's one upcoming film that everyone seems to be keeping an eye on.

Directed and produced by Sam Esmail, Leave The World Behind tells the story of a family getaway that takes a turn for the worst after the members are subjected to a cyberattack that completely knocks out their devices in their luxury villa - and then, out of the blue, two random strangers appear at their door.

"As the threat grows more imminent, both families must decide how best to survive the potential crisis, all while grappling with their own place in this collapsing world," concludes the official synopsis.

Have a look at the trailer below:

Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha’la, and Kevin Bacon all star alongside each other in the film, which makes it just that little bit more irresistible.

Two months ago, a teaser clip was released, which was later followed up by the official trailer.

Taking to the comments, fans expressed their excitement.

"Finally a new movie that looks interesting and isn't a sequel, remake, or superhero film," wrote one user, while another added: "Everything is neat, the trailer, the cast, the acting, the story... EVERYTHING!!!! I need to watch this movie right now."

A third also credited the director, writing: "Anything Sam Esmail does is gold! From the opening credits to the amazing camera angles, Im excited to see what he brings to this movie."

And this user also added: "This looks so amazing I am loving this cast thank you for not giving much away. I have absolutely no idea what's going on but it looks so good this is going to be awesome for movie night I can't wait..."

This user even described it as one of the "top 10 films of the year," adding: "Julia Roberts is brilliant in #LeaveTheWorldBehind - her best role in about 20 years."

Leave The World Behind is based on the 2020 novel of the same name written by Bengali-American writer Rumaan Alam. The book has received a respectable 3.5 stars out of 5 on Waterstones and a solid 4 out of 5 on Goodreads.

After describing the storyline as "remarkable", a reviewer wrote: "Compelling and relatable characters, a disturbingly plausible 'event' and a playful and memorable narrative style made this a truly remarkable reading experience that will stay with me for a while. I thoroughly enjoyed it and wholeheartedly recommend it."

"I LOVED this fresh new take on apocalyptic fiction," another added. "...I found this novel is INSANELY GOOD. It’s scary in all the right ways and leaves you in awe once you have turned the last page. It’s nuanced and clever and current and feels so very believable that I’m still thinking about it weeks after reading it."

Leave The World Behind will be available to stream on Netflix as of tomorrow (8 December).
