Lisa Marie Presley's ex-husband has shared a heartfelt statement following her death on Thursday, January 12.

The 54-year-old had been rushed to hospital following a suspected cardiac arrest at her Calabasas home before being pronounced dead several hours later.

TMZ reported that her ex-husband Danny Keough, who also lived at the property, found her unresponsive and subsequently gave her CPR. The outlet also detailed that someone had given Lisa Marie adrenaline in an attempt to regain her pulse before paramedics came.

Following her death, her mother Priscilla Presley released a statement (via BBC News) that read: "It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us. She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known. We ask for privacy as we try to deal with this profound loss."

Lisa Marie had followed in her father's footsteps, forging a career in music and releasing several albums. Her first album in 2003 went certified Gold and sold hundreds of thousands of copies. She was also known for several high-profile marriages, having walked down the aisle four times - firstly to Danny Keough, then to Michael Jackson, Nicolas Cage, and finally Michael Lockwood.

Michael and Lisa Marie married in 20o6 and are parents to twin daughters Harper and Finley, aged 14. The pair divorced in 2016 after 10 years of marriage and was subsequently embroiled in a bitter and lengthy custody battle, US Magazine detailed.

Attorney Joe Yanny, representing Michael, said in a statement to Entertainment Tonight following Lisa Marie's death: "Michael had been hoping for a speedy and complete recovery because her children needed her. It is very sad it didn’t turn out that way.

"Michael's world has been turned on its ear. He is with both of his daughters now."

Lisa Marie also had two children with ex-husband Danny, sharing daughter Riley, 33, and son Benjamin. Sadly, Benjamin died by suicide at the age of 27 in 2020. Lisa Marie wrote about the grief that followed in an essay for PEOPLE magazine.

In it, she wrote: "I've dealt with death, grief and loss since the age of nine years old. I've had more than anyone's fair share of it in my lifetime and somehow, I've made it this far."

She continued: "But this one, the death of my beautiful, beautiful son? The sweetest and most incredible being that I have ever had the privilege of knowing, who made me feel so honored every single day to be his mother? Who was so much like his grandfather on so many levels that he actually scared me? Which made me worry about him even more than I naturally would have? No."
