Matt Damon has hilariously lost his temper after getting snubbed by Jimmy Kimmel on his talk show's 20th anniversary.

On Friday (January 27), the 55-year-old late-night show pretended - as he has done on several other occasions - to run out of time for the 52-year-old actor at the end of the program.

Following a musical performance by Coldplay, Kimmel concluded the show by expressing his gratitude to everyone that appeared before ignoring Damon.

"Thanks to George Clooney and Snoop Dogg," he said with the band members by his side. "I want to apologize to Matt Damon we ran out of time for him but we will definitely try and work him in at some point over the next 20 years."

The camera then panned to the Jason Bourne star who was waiting patiently in his dressing room with flowers and a cake for the talk show host.

Damon then proceeded to throw the wine bottle on the ground and then slam a bouquet of flowers on a lamp. He then ripped down the congratulations banner behind him and continued to cause mayhem.

"What the actual f***? 20 years of this s***. F*** Kimmel," Damon raged before he sat down on the couch and emotionally said: "I can't believe I baked you a cake."

The Martian actor did not stop his funny tantrum there as he then decided to smash the large cake with Kimmel's face on with his fists. He also exclaimed: "Stupid cake, stupid face! Most overrated talk show host ever," before eating the smashed-up pieces.

According to the Daily Mail, the fake feud started back in 2003 when Kimmel began ending his show by apologizing to Damon for running out of time.

The Good Will Hunting actor later explained the origin of the running gag in an interview with Parade Magazine in December 2011.

"The first time I met Jimmy was when I went to do the primetime show," he said. "For a year he'd been saying, 'My apologies to Matt Damon; we ran out of time.'"

"So he came backstage, and I asked him what that was about. And he was like, 'You want to know what happened? I was doing a particularly lame show; I think my guests were a ventriloquist and a guy in a monkey suit. We were wrapping it up, and there was a smattering of applause in the audience,'" he said.

Ever since then, the duo has persisted with the feud, with them even pretending to go to couples counseling twice to try and resolve it.
