People are absolutely buzzing that Lady Gaga might be starring in 'The Little Shop of Horrors' reboot
One of the best-loved musicals of all time is Little Shop of Horrors.
In case your memory needs refreshing, it centers on centers around Audrey II, an unusual Chinese plant bought during a solar eclipse, which turns her owner Seymour into something of a local celebrity after he discovers she thrives on human blood.
Now, there's a rumor that Lady Gaga could be starring as Audrey in a remake of the 1987 cult classic.
The news was broken by US Weekly who claimed that the singer-songwriter turned actress had "recently" been offered the role.
While nothing is officially known about the role Lady Gaga was allegedly offered, the magazine has speculated that it will be the female lead, Audrey. A role made iconic by Helen Green in the original adaptation.
In case you're wondering why there's two Audrey's, without giving the plot away, Seymour calls the plant Audrey II because he likes Audrey the person so much.
Famed, at first, for being outrageous, Lady Gaga has become a cult figure in her own right, so the possibility of her starring in a remake got a lot of fans extremely excited on social media.
"That's a yes from me," wrote Twitter user @The1FameMonster.
Naturally, fans of the musical then suggested who could play Seymour.
However, some hardcore fans of the original were opposed to the remake, sticking to the old saying that if it's not broken, don't try to fix it.
After the success of A Star is Born, others expressed concerns that Lady Gaga was now at risk of being pigeonholed into the starring role of every musical remake.
But ultimately, I think we can all agree with the sentiment of this tweet:
What do you think? Does Lady Gaga have it in her to justice to the role?
