Pete Davidson has been charged with reckless driving after he crashed his car into the corner of a house earlier this year.

The former SNL star, 29, was in the car with his girlfriend Chase Sui Wonders, 27, when the Mercedes he was driving veered off the road and hit a house.

The pair, who had just arrived back in Los Angeles from Hawaii earlier in the day, had been driving through the Flats neighborhood in Beverly Hills when the incident occurred.

According to reports from TMZ at the time, the collision happened at around 11 PM as Pete "lost control of the vehicle" while driving at speed, before it clipped the curb, knocked a fire hydrant out of place, and crashed into the side of a house.

Photos obtained by the outlet showed damage to the corner of the property, as well as skid marks across the grass leading up to the house.

Now, according to reports from TMZ, the LA County Attorney's Office has charged the comedian with one count of reckless driving.

After police were called to the scene, they did not suspect drugs or alcohol to have been a factor in the crash and Pete was not arrested.

Thankfully, nobody was hurt in the incident, and while the 16-year-old child of the homeowner was in the property at the time of the crash, they were unharmed bar being "a bit" traumatized by the incident, and the homeowner told TMZ they are not planning a lawsuit against Pete.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office told TMZ: "Luckily, no one was seriously injured as a result of this collision. We know that reckless driving can have devastating consequences.

"In 2022, traffic fatalities in Los Angeles have reached the highest levels seen in 20 years. This is an alarming trend that we cannot ignore. As a result, it’s crucial that we take all allegations of reckless driving seriously and hold those responsible accountable."

Pete is due to be arraigned on July 27 and reckless driving can carry a sentence of up to 90 days in jail, a $1,000 fine, as well as a mark on the person's driving license.

The comic-turned-actor has yet to comment publicly about the incident.

The charges come after he hit back at animal rights organization Peta in a leaked voicemail after it accused him of supporting the breeding of dogs when he was seen buying a new Cavapoo puppy.

Pete hit back in an expletive-laden voicemail explaining that he had chosen to buy a Cavapoo puppy specifically because they are among the most hypoallergenic breed of dog as he suffers from severe pet allergies.

He had earlier revealed his devastation after the family's beloved dog had died at just two years old and told Peta that he had opted to add another furry friend to the family to help his mother and sister deal with the grief of losing their former dog.
