According to reports, Sam Asghari and Britney Spears' marriage is over after the personal trainer reportedly filed for divorce from the 'Toxic' hitmaker after just over one year of marriage.
According to TMZ, Asghari cited "irreconcilable differences" as the main reason for ending the marriage, with sources claiming there were cheating rumors during their marriage.
"It's only a matter of time before Sam files for divorce," a source told the outlet right after they claimed that the pair had split.
According to multiple sources, Asghari filed papers to begin divorce proceedings late on Wednesday.
They also added that Asghari has already gotten things moving, packing his stuff and moving out of Spears' Thousand Oaks home after accusing her of being unfaithful.
Prior to the news of their alleged split, it was reported that the pair were arguing frequently.
Back in March, many speculated whether the couple had called it quits because both Asghari and Spears were spotted without their wedding rings.
However, a representative shot down the rumors, stating that Spears' long-term partner had been filming a movie and that's the reason why he didn't have his ring on.
To double down on it, Asghari took to his Instagram Stories to share a photo outside what appeared to be a film set as well as a selfie on a plane with his wedding ring on full display - a not-so-subtle way of dampening any speculation around his relationship.
But just a few months later, the story appears to be very different.
Spears and the fitness trainer were first romantically linked after they met on the set of her 'Slumber Party' music video back in 2016.
"I was like, 'He was really cute, this guy was really cute,' so I called him," she said during an interview in 2017. "He's just a really fun, funny person."
The pair continued to see each other after that until they tied the knot in June 2022.
Prior to proposing to the music icon the year before, the Iranian-born actor opened up about the early days of his relationship with the 'Baby One More Time' singer and admitted he wanted to start a family with her.
"My priorities in life are to remain humble and understand where I came from and where I'm going," he told Forbes in a March 2021 interview. "I want to take my career to the next step when it comes to acting. I want to take my relationship to the next step, as well. I don't mind becoming a father. I want to be a young dad."
Asghari also told PEOPLE a similar story following the release of the unauthorized documentary Framing Britney Spears.
"I have always wanted nothing but the best for my better half, and will continue to support her following her dreams and creating the future she wants and deserves," he shared. "I am thankful for all of the love and support she is receiving from her fans all over the world, and I am looking forward to a normal, amazing future together."
We hope that both parties manage to put their differences to the side and do what's best for them both.
