Australia netball players speak out after fans keep spotting the same wardrobe malfunction at the Commonwealth Games
While Australia's women’s netball team is sweeping up at the Commonwealth Games, it is their kit that has sparked the most conversation.
Although the talented team has beaten most threatening rivals, Tonga and England, in quick succession, many viewers’ attention has been drawn to what the players are wearing rather than what the scores are.
Fans have spotted that Australia’s athletes are spending more time holding down their dresses than reaching for the ball.
The awkward design has sparked design concern amongst netball fans from across the world on social media.

One X user asked: “What is going on with the Australian Diamonds netball dresses?”
While another fan added: “The cut of these Australian dresses is terrible. They keep riding up as soon as the players move.”
Another person keeping tabs on the Commonwealth Games wrote: “Such a shame Diamonds ran out of material before they could finish their dresses. Some of the girls look uncomfortable af #CWGNetball.”
The team, who call themselves the Diamonds, appear to be constantly pulling their yellow and green dresses down to conceal the tight green shorts beneath.
Sympathising with the players, another X user added: “Poor players seemed to have received tops rather than dresses. Half the time they were pulling them down, especially the goalies.”

Thankfully, one player has spoken out about the wardrobe malfunction and is adamant that the team have not let their impractical kit impact their performance on the court.
Goal-scorer Sophie Garbin, who scored 41 goals against England in the most recent match, told News.com.au: “I feel like as a netballer, I’m always tugging my dress down.
“Obviously, we’ve noticed lots of the comments from other people.
“But I feel like on the court, we’re used to dresses coming up and down, and I don’t think it’s affecting our performance, so it’s okay.
“We might have a look what we can do in the next couple of days but we love our dress.
“We love what Valour have done with the pattern and the fabric and everything, so we’re really proud to wear it.”
So far in the competition, Australia have won their first two matches, scoring a very impressive 165 goals in total.
The current Glasgow 2026 tournament runs from 25 July to 2 August 2026 at The Hydro. There are 12 teams competing over nine days and 38 matches.
Australia will face South Africa, Malawi and Northern Ireland in their remaining Pool A games, and if they continue their victorious reign, they will face New Zealand in the final.
