Sydney Sweeney has revealed that her mom talked her out of a breast reduction when she was just a teenager.

Speaking of her insecurities with Fox News, the 26-year-old actress admitted that she "used to feel uncomfortable" about how big her chest was, so much so that she was determined to get a breast reduction when she hit the age of 18.

However, her mom managed to talk her out of it by explaining that she would "regret it in college."

"And I’m so glad I didn’t. I like them. They’re my best friends," she told Glamour in a recent interview. "Everybody’s body is beautiful. When you are confident and you’re happy within is when it really shows to other people."

"I went through that process of covering my body up at such a young age, but once I became more confident with myself, [it changed]. I want to show girls that it’s amazing and beautiful and empowering to have the bodies that we have," she added.

And the mental change has also influenced her physically too. From once wearing oversized hoodies to conceal her figure, she has now found the confidence to wear whatever she wants, whenever she wants.

Despite that, she is still reminded of societal beauty standards whenever she reads certain media headlines about her red-carpet looks.

"Especially when it comes to red carpet pics and they’re like, 'Sydney Sweeney displays bust,' or 'Sydney Sweeney wears a scandalous dress,' I’m like, 'I’m wearing the exact same dress someone else would be wearing! I just have t**s.' And if someone else is wearing it, they’d be like, 'Oh, so sleek and so well-mannered,'" the actress explained.

"Just because I have boobs, it doesn’t change," she said before adding: "I understand. I get it. It’s your headline. And those won’t change because then they won’t get the clicks. Flaunt what you got. Own it. Love them."

Elsewhere in the interview, Sweeney also opened up about her latest project, Anyone But You, which is set to hit major movie theaters on December 26.

The movie follows Bea (played by Sweeney) and Ben (played by Glen Powell), who - after sparking up a romance - end up going their separate ways until the pair are seemingly reunited at a destination wedding and start pretending to be a couple.

While the star opened up about how much fun she had filming the rom-com, she also discussed how the media and speculative headlines tainted that experience a little.

"It was really hard on Glen, which made me sad... because [otherwise] it was such a beautiful experience for the both of us. I care for him so much," she said during her chat with the beauty outlet.

The pair were subjected to "affair" rumors while both being in relationships at the time. Sweeney's relationship with businessman and producer, Jonathan Davino managed to survive the period, whereas Powell's relationship with model Gigi Paris subsequently came to an end.

"Gigi and Glen had broken up several times," a source told PEOPLE in August. "They had been on the rocks since Top Gun came out. Gigi was never happy with the long-distance filming and when she came to Australia [where Powell was filming Anyone But You] they both decided to break up for good."

Anyone But You is set to be released on December 26.
