So, earlier this week the very first debate in the lead up to the 2020 US Presidential election took place - and we all know how that went.

It was 90 minutes of yelling, personal attacks, and speaking over one another. And all of it made for an interesting evening, to say the least.

Check out the top moments from the first presidential debate between incumbent President Donald Trump and Joe Biden:

Needless to say, eagle-eyed viewers and media outlets scrutinized pretty much everything that happened during the debate.

Even once the debate had already wrapped up, footage surfaced of President Donald Trump and his wife Melania reuniting. Many people pointed out a contrast between this and Joe Biden with his wife Jill, who went for what looked like a warm embrace.

While the debate itself was often reduced to something akin to a poorly rehearsed play in which every performer had forgotten their cue to speak, there were some memorable moments, too.

And in one standout incident from the night, presidential hopeful Joe Biden snapped “Would you shut up, man?” at President Trump.

Check out Twitter's reaction to the bold retort:

And there's plenty more where that came from! These are some of the other memorable lines from the debate:

“You are the worst president that America has ever had.”

“The fact is that everything he’s saying so far is simply a lie. I’m not here to call out his lies. Everybody knows he a liar.”

“It’s hard to get any word in with this clown – excuse me, this person.”

“President Trump wouldn’t know a suburb unless he took a wrong turn.”

“That was really a productive segment, wasn’t it? Keep yappin’, man.”

Meanwhile, Trump mocked Biden over the size of his face masks.

Trump stated:

“I don't wear a mask like [Biden], every time you see him, he's got a mask.

“He could be speaking 200 feet away from it, and he shows up with the biggest mask I've seen.”

Trump was also criticized for 'refusing' to condemn white supremacy. When asked to condemn white supremacist violence, Trump said the far-right Proud Boys group should "stand back and stand by." He then followed this up by saying violence in America "is not a right-wing problem. This is a left-wing problem."
