President Joe Biden raised eyebrows this week after he hugged Eva Longoria on stage, with many branding the interaction awkward.

Longoria had been attending the White House on Thursday night, where she addressed a film screening of her directorial debut Flamin' Hot.

The president hugged the former Desperate Housewives star after she took to the podium, but onlookers spotted that he appeared to let his hands linger on her waist, before Longoria grabbed his hands and smiled at the cameras.

Viewers of the exchange took to Twitter to share their thoughts after the footage went viral.

One tweeted: "You're very hands on Joe, especially with Eva Longoria..." while another added: "Me watching Eva Longoria fend off Joe Biden"

Biden also told the crowd: "We’ve known each other a long time. She was 17, I was 40," as several people in the audience laughed.

Many also pointed out that the math was actually wrong on that one too, as Biden would have been 50 when Longoria was 17, not a decade younger as he had initially said.

The POTUS also shared another favorite joke of his about what his role is first and foremost, telling the crowd: "I’m Jill Biden’s husband", and when a member of the audience yelled out "I love you," he quipped in response: "I accept!"

Longoria has been a vocal supporter of Biden in 2020's election and also was a major fundraiser for former President Barack Obama, helping raise between $200,000 and $500,000 for his 2012 re-election campaign.

Longoria was at the White House to screen her Flamin' Hot, her directorial debut, which is based on the story of Richard Montanex, a Mexican-American janitor who worked for Frito-Lay.

In the movie, viewers see him convincing his bosses of an idea to boost sales of the signature Cheetos brand snack.

However, claims of Montanez's involvement in creating the spicy snack have been disputed, with the Los Angeles Times reporting that Frito-Lay stated in 2021 that the janitor was "not involved" in its creation.

The movie is not intended to be a documentary but is designed to allow Americans from different background to see themselves reflected on film.

Longoria said, via the New York Post: "We are telling a story that celebrates the American entrepreneurial dream without sidestepping the fact that the dream isn’t available in the same way for everyone."

First Lady Jill Biden added: "This film isn’t just about Richard. It’s about everyone who has been overlooked or underestimated."

Flamin’ Hot is available to stream now on Hulu and Disney+.
