Ronda Rousey's move from Mixed Martial Arts to the world of professional wrestling was a shocking announcement, but this year it seems to have been a roaring success. It was a major career shift for the UFC fighter, whose character in the octagon was amped up into a bad girl persona for WWE, with Joan Jett's 'Bad Reputation' serving as a perfect entrance song for her.

Now she's begun to settle into the sport, with a few great moments to her name already, including the brilliant moment she put Triple H through a table after her contract signing.

However, there is one hiccup with one of her upcoming matches. Rousey was set to fight Becky Lynch in a champion v champion bout at this weekend's Survivor Series pay-per-view, but unforeseen circumstances have meant that this match had to be cancelled last minute.

Regardless of how entertaining the sport can be, fans know that the fights aren't exactly real. When you're younger, there comes a time where you discover that the melodrama within the ring is fictional, but that doesn't mean there isn't any risk involved.

There's expert choreography involved in the fights, in which they had to simulate real moves without actually hurting one another - but things don't always go to plan.

Before their match could take place, Lynch was hit with a move gone wrong in an unscripted moment from a recent brawl between members of RAW and Smackdown. Lynch, one of the biggest names in women's WWE, suffered from a broken nose and a severe concussion, after fellow pro wrestler Nia Jax made a mistake in the ring.

After the blow to the face, the Irish wrestler maintained her composure throughout the fight, even as blood poured down her face. However, the 31-year-old has now been declared as unfit to fight Rousey. You can see the mistake that left her injured in the fan video below:

However, it was only 24 hours later that Lynch reappeared on Smackdown fully in character. Sporting a black eye, she announced that Charlotte Flair was the pick to replace her and fight Rousey in her place, but she wasn't happy about it, saying:

"Take my word, with a severe concussion and a broken face, I can still kick Ronnie's ass.

“I’m sorry to everybody that I can’t finish what I started… yet. Because Ronda, you’re not the baddest bitch on the planet, you’re the luckiest.”

A lot of fans are huge fans of Lynch for keeping going throughout the initial fight, gaining a lot of respect for her. Meanwhile, WWE fans are much less happy with Jax for the slip-up.

"Hearing Nia Jax has “major heat” within WWE for giving Becky Lynch a broken nose and concussion," one user wrote. "Word is many women talent feel she’s unsafe in the ring."

It has been reported that many of Jax's colleagues are also said to be unhappy with what happened with Lynch, as well as Jax's general performance, with a number of botched moves injuring fellow stars in the past.
