Toward the back end of last year, there was a celebrity breakup that helped to fuel a ton of relationship drama in the early weeks of 2019. Around that time, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were making waves with A Star Is Born, and their onscreen chemistry caused people to think: are these two kind of a thing?
Not helped by this rather steamy Oscars performance:

Before, Lady Gaga had gotten engaged to Christian Carino, and nobody had anything to go off, but the breakdown of their relationship fuelled rumours that Cooper and Gaga were hooking up, and Lady Gaga even had to come out to say that nothing was happening.
But what was the reason that Lady Gaga broke up with Carino? At the time, Lady Gaga said that the story of the uncoupling was "not a long dramatic story", according to E! News. But it's recently emerged that Lady Gaga broke it off with Carino for another, more pertinent reason - her fiancé had become jealous.
"Chris didn't treat Gaga very well toward the end of their [two-year] relationship," a source explained to Us Weekly, while another source confirmed that it was Lady Gaga's choice to end the relationship: "He was jealous... He was trying to find her all the time and texted her a lot. Her friends didn’t like him either."
In the aftermath of her breakup, the same source admitted that Lady Gaga had been spending a lot of time with the Hurt Locker and Avengers star Jeremy Renner.
"They’ve become super close and hang out all the time," a source said of the couple, but as of yet, they're just friends: E! News explained that the situation is far from romantic.
"She has been friends with Jeremy Renner for a while. They often hang out when they are both in town. She's been spending time with him recently, but it's not romantic."
Lady Gaga celebrated her 33rd birthday earlier this week on March 28, and although she won't have a man on her shoulder, E! News also explained that she'll be surrounded by her closest friends. Booking a trip to Cabo with 11 of her closest friends, an insider said she'll just hang out, doing nothing at all.
"Cabo is Gaga's happy place and she was excited to get away for a few days...Everyone has been laying out at the pool, sipping drinks, and having food while laughing and chatting together. Gaga is excited to relax."
"It's been a super casual vacation so far," explained another source, "but Gaga has expressed that she is ready to celebrate getting older... Gaga has a private dinner planned for her birthday and is really happy to be spending her 33rd birthday with all of the people that have been by her side for many years."

If you're still suffering the throes of winter weather, just watch Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga's steamy performance of Shallow at the Oscars. It is guaranteed to warm you up. As the two stars crooned their Academy-Award-winning tune from the third remake of A Star Is Born, they nuzzled close together, gazing into each other's eyes. The intimate duet went viral, inspiring many memes.
As everyone shipped the pair on Twitter, some people wondered how Bradley Cooper's girlfriend, supermodel Irina Shayk, felt about the performance. Well, judging by the broadcast, she felt just fine. When the song ended, Shayk was the first person to give them a standing ovation, and a photo showed her congratulate Gaga on her win. So, it looks like the couple is far from the sha-sha-la-la-la-low.

Gaga is currently single, having split from ex-fiancé Christian Carino. Before Carino, she was engaged to actor Taylor Kinney. In 2016, just after Gaga booked the role in A Star Is Born, she announced their breakup on Instagram.
"Taylor and I have always believed we are soulmates," she wrote. "Just like all couples we have ups and downs, and we have been taking a break. We are both ambitious artists, hoping to work through long-distance and complicated schedules to continue the simple love we have always shared. Please root us on. We're just like everybody else and we really love each other."
In the Netflix documentary, Lady Gaga: Five Foot Two, the singer confirmed the breakup. "When I sold 10 million records, I lost Matt. I sold 30 million, I lose Luke. I get the movie, I lose Taylor," said an emotional Gaga.

Following the Academy Awards, Kinney appeared to throw shade at his ex-fiancé on Instagram. As you might expect, many followers bombarded him with comments asking what he thought about Gaga's Oscar win. Kinney didn't reply, but he did 'like' one shady comment: "Stoked you got away from Gaga. #Hollyweird."
Gaga's little monsters were not happy about the apparent shade. One Instagram user wrote, "@luvmynyyankees Shame on you!!! This is cyber bullying and I am reporting you! And @taylorkinney111 you know better than to waste a moment 'liking' something that puts down another person! You have a platform to spread kindness but you choose to egg on a bully. Completely tasteless and classless of you. I have lost respect."
Meanwhile, one Twitter user wrote, "Taylor Kinney left her when she decided to do A Star Is Born, now he’s a bitter bitch. To quote what Gaga herself once said - at least your career won’t turn around and tell you it doesn’t love you anymore. Another addition to the “men ain’t shit” biography."

Well, maybe Taylor Kinney just bumped the 'like' button? Just throwing that out there.

At the Academy Awards, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper stole the show with a steamy performance of their Oscar-winning song Shallow from A Star Is Born. As the pair nuzzled up next to each other behind the piano, the memes flooded in on Twitter. Many people wondered how Cooper's girlfriend, supermodel Irina Shayk, felt about the intimate duet, since she was sitting front row center. Well, have no fear, Cooper-Shayk shippers - she was the first one to congratulate the couple with a standing ovation.
Following the broadcast, Lady Gaga's ex-fiancé, Taylor Kinney, appeared to throw shade at her on Instagram. The couple broke up in 2016, just after she booked the role in A Star In Born. Naturally, Kinney's followers were curious how he felt about Lady Gaga's Oscar win. Kinney didn't reply to their questions, but he did 'like' a shady comment from someone else. It read, "Stoked you got away from Gaga #Hollyweird."
Gaga's little monsters savagely condemned Kinney for the apparent shade. Well, calm down, little monsters! Taylor Kinney responded to the controversy, commenting, "Sorry for 'like.' It was an accident. I'm only proud and happy for Stef.' (Lady Gaga's real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta.) Hey, we've all been there, accidentally liking a comment, post or video before, right? (Of course, conspiracy theorists might say Kinney really did mean to throw shade, and now he's just backtracking.)
It appears the exes get along, though. Last October,E! News caught up with Kinney just before A Star Is Born was released. The actor admitted he hadn't seen the film, but said, "I can only wish her the best. I'm really proud."

Lady Gaga has allegedly split from her fiancé Christian Carino, confirming weeks of speculation from fans that their relationship had gone south. A spokesperson representing the singer and actress confirmed the news of her breakup on Tuesday evening in a statement made to the Associated Press.
Another source told People magazine that: "It just didn’t work out. Relationships sometimes end. There’s no long dramatic story."
Previously, another insider told ET that, although Gaga was excited about her nuptials, she was too busy to actually commit to a wedding date, stating: "She is constantly telling those close to her how grateful she is to be at this point in her life and work with such incredible artists and be with the man she loves so dearly, Gaga is incredibly elated about her engagement, but because of how busy she's been with [A Star is Born], she can't even begin to think about a wedding."

Fans first began speculating that began that the couple was on a break after noticing that Gaga wasn't actually wearing her engagement ring at the Grammy Awards, and after her song Shallow won the best pop duo or group performance prize, Gaga didn't mention him in her acceptance speech. Although Gaga had taken Carino with her to other award shows, such as the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the Golden Globes, he was nowhere to be seen at the all-important Grammys.
On Twitter, Gaga fans have expressed their sympathy for the couple after the breakup. A number of other fans think that the breakup might have something to do with Gaga's onscreen chemistry with Bradley Cooper, and wonder if the two of them could end up as an item. For instance, one Twitter-user wrote: "LADY GAGA HAS ENDED HER ENGAGEMENT ITS ALLLLL HAPPENINGGGGGGG RUN TO BRADLEY RUNNNNN [sic]" while another person tweeted: "Tbh I always thought he was more into it than she was. [sic]"

The couple first hooked up back in 2017 at the Super Bowl, and since then Carino helped Gaga celebrate her 31st birthday, took her to the Hamptons that summer, and proposed not long after. Previously, Gaga was engaged to Taylor Kinney, but she broke off that engagement in 2016, citing that her career had interfered with their relationship when pressed for a reason for the split.
It certainly is a shame that Lady Gaga's wedding hasn't panned out, but to be fair, I can't imagine that she'll be single for too long.

Taylor Swift's latest album has sent the internet into a meltdown - and rightly so given all the drama that it addressed.
The 34-year-old's latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, is the latest masterpiece the icon is adding to her already pretty impressive collection, but this time, she has cranked things up a notch.
Long gone are the days of heartaches brought upon by toxic lovers, now Swift is also aiming at fans who have criticized her decisions for dating said toxic lovers - namely those who came after Swift when she started dating The 1975's Matty Healy.
I want you to think back to those fateful days when videos of Healy attending multiple Eras Tour concerts went viral online (yeah, it was a dark time) just before the pair started an alleged fling that lasted a few weeks before they eventually called it quits.
Despite it being a brief romance, fans were not happy especially knowing that Healy, 35, had been embroiled in multiple controversies throughout his career, even one concerning one of Swift's besties, Ice Spice.
Things got so bad that some fans even threw together a petition begging the 'Love Story' singer to drop her rebound immediately and I guess their wishes came true.
At the time, Entertainment Tonight revealed that an insider broke the news to them, stating that they "broke up" because they were "busy" and "not really compatible with each other."
"Taylor’s friends want what's best for her and aren’t shocked that their relationship fizzled out since she recently got out of a long-term relationship," they added, referring to her split from Joe Alwyn in April 2023 after six years together.
But Swift isn't going to let it go without having the last say.
In her new album, which became available to listeners last night, she addressed the entire fiasco in a song titled 'But Daddy I Love Him.'
The lyrics read: "I’d rather burn my whole life down/ Than listen to one more second of all this b******' and moanin'/ I’ll tell you something 'bout my good name/ It’s mine along with all the disgrace/ I don’t cater to all these vipers dressed in empath's clothing."
Fans took to social media to discuss the drama, with many actually commending the star for being bold enough to release the diss track.
"but daddy i love him literally being a f*** you to everyone in the month of may is genuinely the f****** funniest thing she could’ve done and for that i applaud her," wrote one user while another added: "lmao taylor saw your think pieces about matty healy and wrote but daddy I love him."
A third also agreed writing: "but daddy i love him is one of the most hilarious songs in taylor’s whole discography tbh! and many of these songs are being added to the comedian taylor hall of fame."
I did not have Taylor Swift protecting Matty Healy on my 2024 bingo card, but am I surprised? Nah.
The Tortured Poets Department is now available to listen to on all major streaming platforms.
