A woman was left in a pretty sticky situation while on vacation after she ordered a cocktail worth $2,400.
Being on vacation is a time to let your hair down and enjoy the finer things in life... within reason.
While it's easy to think that money is no object as you're sunning yourself while drinking cocktails, the reality is that you will cry at the sight of your bank account when you get home.
Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge advocate for splashing out, having a few drinks, and living life without any worries, but I like to think that I wouldn't order a $2,400 cocktail - no matter how drunk I was.
Lynsey Bennett took to TikTok to share her experiences, claiming that she "accidentally" ordered a ridiculously expensive cocktail and was unable to pay the bill.
Bennett and her husband were enjoying a night out in London during a vacation before deciding to cap off the evening at their hotel's bar. However, what was meant to be a nightcap turned into a costly affair when Bennett mistakenly ordered a cocktail named "1890."
“I always drink champagne; I rarely drink cocktails,” Bennett admitted on her TikTok before recounting how she unwittingly chose the priciest item on the menu at the 5-star hotel.
Unbeknownst to Bennett, the cocktail boasted an expensive brand of champagne, cognac, and even gold leaf. In her intoxicated state, Bennett misinterpreted the price, thinking "1890" meant $18.90.
“They presented the bill for £2,000 ($2,400), and I was like, ‘Uh oh, I can’t afford to pay that',” she confessed in her TikTok video.
The bartender, realizing the gravity of the situation, quickly sought assistance from the manager. Bennett reported that the manager handled the situation calmly, allowing her to return to her hotel room while assuring that the hotel would address the matter.
In a subsequent video, Bennett revealed that she revisited the bar a few days later, where the manager jokingly mentioned that the bartender faced termination but reassured her that he was undergoing additional training.
When one comment asked: "But like what was in it that made it come to that price," Bennett replied: "They opened a bottle of Christal Champagne, sprinkled gold leaf into it and 30 year old whisky. I must have been more tipsy than I thought."
A second comment said: "Surely he should have asked you to pay before making a drink that cost that much just to make sure you could afford to."
Bennett responded: "Yes, he should have bless him. He had just started and i think he was excited to make this cocktail."
Let this story come as a warning to make sure you know the costs of something before you buy it... and if someone starts sprinkling gold onto your drink, you've probably made a mistake.
