Alison Brie has one word of advice for us all when it comes to having a long and happy marriage, and it might be simple, but it's the best advice.
Now, trying to maintain a happy relationship can be difficult sometimes, especially given how much the game has changed over the years, but 40-year-old Alison Brie might have cracked the code.
In an interview with ET last year, she reflected on her secret to maintaining a healthy and happy marriage with her husband and fellow actor, Dave Franco, stating that the key is "communication."
"It's all about good communication," she told the outlet.
"Everybody says it, but I think that's why we try to work together so much honestly, just so we can spend more time together," she shared. "So we don't have to be apart so much."
"But even when we're apart, we really make an effort to connect every day," she added, "and that's important."
Brie and her husband first met back in 2011 during quite a remarkable encounter.
The actor shared that the two engaged in "48 hours of drugs, sex, a lot of making out" after being set up by a mutual friend during an appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in July 2020.
"It starts off in New Orleans at Mardi Gras, where all great love stories begin," she told the host before going on to say that their relationship blossomed thanks to some "incredible matchmaking."
While the two were out to dinner with a group of friends, a friend texted encouraging Brie to hook up with Franco.
"You should hook up with Dave," she said, to which the actress replied, "Yes please."
The same friend sent a similar text to Franco, who was all for it, replying: "I’m in!"
And thus began a wonderful relationship which ended up with the pair getting engaged in 2015 before officially tying the knot in 2017.
Franco recalled his iconic proposal to Brie during an interview with James Corden, stating that there was an awkward moment involving a mask...
"We go up to Big Sur, we're on the back patio ― she’s out overlooking the ocean," Franco recalled. "She turns around, I’m on one knee, I'm wearing the mask, I'm holding up the ring. And because it had been five years, she couldn't place the mask," Franco said as the audience laughed.
"She didn't know what it was."
He continued: "And so, the entire proposal is her saying, 'What is happening right now?' And it’s me trying to explain how sweet it is that I kept the mask for five years."
Clearly, after his explanation she did think it was sweet because the pair celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary last year.
See, communication really is the key!
