Baby girl born on 9/11 at 9:11pm weighing 9lbs 11oz
Every anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, it is important that we take the time to reflect on the tragedies of that day, and to remember the near-3,000 innocent victims who lost their lives. However, the most recent anniversary also gave people the opportunity to celebrate what is being described as a "miracle".
At a hospital in Tennessee, a baby girl by the name of Christina Malone-Brown was born. In an incredible series of chances, she was brought into the world on 9/11 at 9:11pm and weighed 9lbs 11oz, CNN reports.
At 8:55pm on Wednesday evening, Cametrione Malone-Brown was rushed into the delivery room for a C-section. Sixteen minutes later at 9:11pm the cries of a newborn Christina were heard.
Dad Justin Brown was in disbelief and even more stunned when his daughter was placed on the scales where she weighed 9lbs 11oz.
Confirming the news on the Methodist Healthcare Facebook page, representatives from the Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital announced:
"On 9/11 at 9:11 p.m. weighing 9 lbs. 11 oz., Christina Brown made an unforgettable entrance into the world last night at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital!
"Christina's mom Cametrione Malone-Brown shared, '...we had emotions and we felt it. Then 18 years later on that day 9/11, you find triumph; you find a piece of joy from a day that was so drastic and still hurts.'"
Speaking to CNN, Justin said:
"We have a true 9/11 baby. Time was just rolling then all of a sudden we heard the 'wah' and then they called it 9.11. Then they got her on the table and said 'Oh my God, she weighs 9 11.
"[The delivery doctor] was so excited and said this is a 9 11, 9 11, 9 11 baby."
Officials at the hospital have confirmed that Christina is in good condition and is expected to be going home in a few days.
Earlier this year, retailers 7-Eleven provided a newborn baby with $7,111 for a college fund after it was born on 7/11, at 7:11pm and weighing 7lbs 11oz.
