Another argument about tips is upon us and this time a DoorDash driver was left furious about a 25 percent tip because the customer lived in a "nice" house.
There will soon come a day when a decision is made about what is deemed an acceptable tip and what isn't and these petty arguments will cease.
But until that day, delivery drivers and servers will continue to be at odds with customers who tip too little, or completely refuse altogether.
In the most recent installment of driver vs customer, one DoorDash employee was left furious after receiving a 25 percent tip, and his reaction summed up his feelings.
The clip was uploaded to TikTok by Lacey Purciful who had ordered pizza for $20 and tipped the driver $5.
The driver, who has since been identified as Corey, can be seen approaching the house and the exchange seems to be going well and even quite polite at first.
After the food has changed hands, Corey glances at the house and states: "I just want to say, it's a pretty nice house for a $5 tip."
Lacey, clearly taken aback by the encounter, sarcastically replies: "You're welcome", which wasn't taken too kindly by Corey, who 'politely' replies "F*** you" while walking away.
Writing over the video, the Texas homeowner penned: "So how much should I be tipping for a $20 pie??"
People flooded the comments with their thoughts on the matter, as tipping culture appears to be something that people have strong opinions about.
One person wrote: "I don’t blame him. Why give him a $5 tip for a 6 figure Home you live in," and a second Corey supporter said: "No, I agree. It's expensive to drive there and just means that you don't care about the person who has put money into their car."
Though the largest reaction was complete disbelief that the DoorDash driver was so rude during the encounter.
"I’m wondering if you let his employer know what he said to you. That boy needs some manners and humility," one person wrote, with a second saying: "I hope you took the tip back. He didn’t have to accept the order. All he did was pick up food."
Lacey confirmed that she contacted DoorDash to make a formal complaint, and even attempted to get the $5 tip taken back. She also claimed that the driver had been fired as a result of the encounter.
He may have considered the $5 tip to be too little (despite it being over the customary 20% usually expected as a tip), but manners cost nothing after all.
