A pretty awkward exchange between a Doordash driver and a customer has gone viral on TikTok, all because there was no tip involved in the delivery.

Tipping culture is causing arguments yet again, as nobody can seem to agree on what is deemed acceptable and what isn't.

The arguments tend to rage within the US, as across the globe tipping is seen differently - in the UK for example tipping is seen as an added extra for great service instead of being a necessity to help a server pay their bills.

Because so many people in the US rely on tips, some of the reactions when no money exchanges hands can be pretty alarming, like a viral TikTok shared by the account @DashDrop.

The clip shows a Doordash driver heading up to the front door of a house where the customer is eagerly awaiting their food.

Questions are raised by the driver about whether payment needs to be exchanged for the food, but the customer responds that she had paid through the app.

The receipt appears to dispute this, as the driver says: "This does not say anything about payment, it says zero," but the hungry customer defiantly states that she has already paid.

This is when things took a little turn for the worse, as the customer reveals that the zero indicates that she didn't tip, and this revelation is met by a stunned silence.

Clearly fed up with the exchange, the hungry person standing in their doorway asks if she can have her food, and the reaction of the driver is what has caused controversy.

After standing in silence for what feels like an eternity, she spins and throws the food across the front lawn and walks off to her vehicle.

As she walks away, she can be heard saying "No, go get it," and the stunned customer calls for her mom, clearly in disbelief about what just took place.

People flocked to the comments with their thoughts, as one person said: "She clearly never deserved the tip to begin with if this is how she acts."

A second person added: "A tip is earned, not expected. If you don't like your job quit and get another one."

Though some were on the side of the Doordash driver, as one supporter said: "Why wouldn’t you tip? They are providing a service. Driving to the restaurant, making sure your order is correct, picking up and delivering it to you."

Others agreed, stating that a tip of at least 20 percent should be the custom when somebody offers a service to you.

Do you think the delivery driver's reaction was justified?
