A man believes fellow TikTok users potentially saved his life after they spotted a worrying cancer symptom.

Sharing videos under the name Seattle Tech Bro, the TikTok user often shares videos about technology, finance, and careers advice. However, in a recent video, he has revealed that his life was potentially saved after concerned social media users spotted a possible sign of thyroid cancer.

Posting under the handle @seattletechbro, he says that one person commented on a previous video saying: "Your thyroid looks a bit swollen. You might want to get that checked."

The concern was clearly shared by others, as one person responded to the comment, writing: "I was looking for this comment, thank you!"

The 22-year-old says that another TikTok user even went to the trouble of sending him a private message, which read: "Hey! Enjoying your videos. Sorry if this is overstepping. Your thyroid looks a bit swollen, please get it checked. Usually it's just an enlarged thyroid but sometimes it's thyroid cancer."

And it turns out their concerns were warranted, as he explained in a recent video: "TikTok told me I might have cancer... It seems that they were right."

Seattle Tech Bro continued: "So for those of you who don't know, my first couple of TikTok videos were just me talking about my budget, and people commented or DM'd me saying that my thyroid looked a little enlarged and that I should get it checked out and that it could be cancerous."

He says that he decided to seek medical advice "out of an abundance of caution", and after After several tests and ultrasounds, doctors told Seattle Tech Bro that there was a "95% chance" that the nodule on his thyroid was, in fact, cancerous.

"I had two options. I could either take out my entire thyroid, or I could just take out the cancerous bit," he added.

Deciding against having to take a daily synthetic thyroid hormone medication, the TikToker revealed that he just had the "cancerous bit in the middle" removed.

One of the social media users who reached out to him even commented on the video, writing: "I was nervous about reaching out, but I'm really glad that I did! Wishing you [a] speedy recovery".

During his recovery, he added that he would be making fewer videos as it currently "drains" him to talk so much.

The internet can be a wonderful place at times. We wish Seattle Tech Bro all the best on his recovery.
