A man who lost half his body during a horrifying forklift accident has answered the one question everyone is always asking.

Loren Schauers from Wilsall, Montana, saw his life change forever in 2019 when he plummeted off a bridge while driving a forklift.

Schauers plunged 50 feet to the ground below and, when he landed, the lower half of his body and one of his arms were crushed.

He narrowly avoided death after undergoing a hemicorporectomy - which is an operation that amputates the entire lower half of a patient's body. Doctors were also forced to amputate his arm.

Although Schauers's significant injury has undoubtedly impacted him forever, he hasn’t let it stop him from living his life.

A few years after the traumatizing incident, Schauers started a shared YouTube channel with his wife Sabia where they give viewers a glimpse into their life.

As the couple's channel has grown in popularity, amassing 639K subscribers as of the time of writing, they receive invasive questions about their private life, such as how they have sex since Schauers's operation led to the removal of his genitalia.

Sabia, who has stayed by her husband's side through all his health problems, shared her thoughts about this inappropriate question during an interview with the Daily Star, saying: “A question we get repeatedly is, ‘How do we have sex and how do we become intimate?'

“That is a very personal question that we are never going to answer or allude to, as it’s very disrespectful," she slammed. “You wouldn’t ask a random couple on the street how they have sex and just because our life circumstances are different, it doesn’t give people the right to ask.”

However, one query the pair was happy to answer was about how Schauers could go to the bathroom without genitals.

Sabia first brought up the question in their live Q&A, stating: "The biggest question that has been asked since our original video is how Loren goes to the bathroom."

Her husband then revealed: "A colostomy which is my colon pulled out of my body so I can poop. And I have bilateral nephrotomies, they're tubes that go into my kidneys that drain my kidneys into bags so, therefore, that is how I poop, pee, and fart."

His wife then added that one of the ways she looks after her partner's complex digestive system is by changing his colostomy bags.

Despite Schauers's condition, the couple was able to grow and flourish together.

The pair had only been in a relationship for around 18 months when Schauers went through the heartbreaking accident but they stayed together.

They eventually got married in 2021.
