A man who was cut in half by a forklift has shared a horrifying photo of the moment the machine landed on him.

Loren Schauers from Wilsall, Montana, saw his life change forever in 2019 when he veered off a bridge while driving a forklift in a freak accident that saw him fall 50ft. When he landed, the lower half of the then-19-year-old's body was crushed - as was one of his arms.

After opting to undergo a hemicorperectomy - an operation to amputate the entire lower half of his body - Loren narrowly avoided death. Now, he and his wife Sabia document their lives after the accident on YouTube, where they have over 540,000 subscribers.

According to several outlets, including the Daily Star, Loren recently posted an Instagram photo of the moment the forklift accident almost ended his life on the construction site.

The image shows the aftermath of the near-fatal incident which saw him get to close to the edge due to traffic and fall off a bridge while in the truck.

Loren said the image, if scrutinized closely, shows him trapped under the forklift.

Over on YouTube, Loren and Sabia uploaded a Q&A video where the couple revealed that the question their subscribers were most eager to know the answer to was how Loren was able to go to the toilet with no private parts.

Sabia addressed the question in the video, which the couple filmed from Loren's hospital bed.

"The biggest question that has been asked since our original video is how Loren goes to the bathroom," she revealed, before handing over to her husband to clarify the details.

"A colostomy which is my colon pulled out of my body so I can poop," he explained, adding: "And I have bilateral nephrostomies, they're tubes that go into my kidneys that drain my kidneys into bags so therefore that is how I poop, pee and fart."

Sabia went on to say that - as a result of Loren's complex digestive system - one of the ways she cares for her husband on a daily basis is by changing his colostomy bags.

Unsurprisingly, mention of how Loren goes to the toilet naturally led onto a more explicit question about his below the belt region.

"We get questions like, 'does he have any private parts?'" Sabia revealed. "He’s amputated below the waist. If that doesn’t answer your questions, Google hemicorporectomy," she added.

Despite this, the couple went on to talk about how Loren's accident had helped them to grow as a couple.

The pair had only been going out for 18 months when he was hospitalized. However, despite the challenges, their partnership went from strength to strength, and they tied the knot in 2021.

"Going through this together has definitely strengthened a lot of the aspects of our relationship," Sabia said, adding: "It has made us a lot more appreciative of the little things that we used to take for granted as a couple before."

A former construction worker who was forced to have his lower body and one arm amputated following a workplace accident has revealed the very personal question he and his partner are constantly asked.

Loren Schauers was just 18 when the forklift he was operating dropped 50 feet off a bridge in September 2019.

The then-teenager suffered life-changing injuries, as everything below his hips was crushed, he required a total amputation below the waist, and lost half his right arm.

Fans often ask the same unwarranted question

On their channel, Sabia and Loren, they recently revealed the intrusive intimate question they are regularly asked.

Sabia said, according to the Daily Star: “A question we get repeatedly is, ‘How do we have sex and how do we become intimate?’

“That is a very personal question that we are never going to answer or allude to, as it’s very disrespectful.

“You wouldn’t ask a random couple on the street how they have sex, and just because our life circumstances are different, it doesn’t give people the right to ask,” she added.

In another video, Loren described how the accident that left him an amputee happened.

He explained: “My boss asked me to grab the forklift, drag it across, and move the water barrier back into position. I never got trained to even drive a forklift."

The couple has found supportive fans through streaming

Despite the devastating accident, Loren has learned to live with his condition and pursue things he enjoys, such as gaming.

"I stream on Twitch as much as possible, whenever I can get up,” Loren said.

"And then whenever we're sitting up, whenever I'm sitting up, we're either doing YouTube videos or I'm streaming on Twitch," he added.

In one video, Loren read out questions from commenters about how the couple cope with Loren’s medical bills.

A supportive fan asked: "I know you don't discuss money, but we always hear how horribly expensive medical is in the US, and would imagine Lawrence's care runs in the millions, easily.

"Just want to hear that you guys are doing okay with that or if you need help? I know you guys never ask for money but there are many of us that like to help in that way."

In response, Loren explained: "Luckily, all my medical bills and whatnot are taking care of through workman's comp, and so it's no bother on our pocket."

The question posed was: "Do your friends still treat you the same way they used to before the accident? Are you happy, surprised, or disappointed by some of them?"

Loren frankly revealed in the video that many of his friends had fallen short of being there for him since his injury. "Mostly disappointed by most of them, I'd say," he candidly stated.

Sabia chimed in, saying, "I've been a little surprised by some of them."

Loren further elaborated, acknowledging that while "a couple of friends came out of the woodworks and have been really supportive," others "totally reverted and have been reclusive."

"But it's whatever to me, you know, I got Sabia, that's all I need," he added.

In addition to reflecting on friends' responses, the couple delved into how Loren's accident had reshaped their romantic relationship.

When Loren was hospitalized, the pair had only been together for 18 months. Despite the challenges thrown their way, their bond not only endured but grew stronger, resulting in their marriage in 2021.

"Going through this together has definitely strengthened a lot of the aspects of our relationship," Sabia noted, emphasizing their newfound appreciation for the small things they once took for granted as a couple.

Their future plans include embarking on global adventures before starting a family, albeit at a more measured pace than before.

Loren remarked that their life now is "much simpler compared to what it used to be," humorously adding, "There's a lot more laying around than before."

Despite Loren's friends not being as supportive as he would have hoped, we hope Loren and Sabia are able to jet off and explore the world as they intend to!
