January is a month where a lot of us will try (and probably fail) to be healthy again after days of indulgence over the holidays.
Some try Dry January, others Veganuary, while the rest renew their gym membership again. It can be hard to stay motivated and keep at it. But if you're looking for someone to look up to, then you could do a lot worse than Arya Permana.
Arya was once dubbed 'The World's Fattest Child' back when he was 10 when pictures emerged of him on social media. However, at the age of 13, the kid from Indonesia has now turned his life around and make an incredible transformation, losing more than half of his body weight.
Arya, who hails from the Pasir Piring hamlet of Cipurwasari village in West Java, weighed 193kg (30st 3lbs). However, now with the help of professional bodybuilder Ade Rai (who he originally bonded with over their shared love of video games), he's now lost more than 100kg and weighs only 86kg (13st 5lbs).
In a recent interview with Asia One, Arya's trainer Ade Rai stated proudly: "According to Arya’s parents, initially he weighed 85kg before his appetite increased extremely. He is now losing weight without losing his spirit."
Take a look at his incredible workout process below:He added: "This is a rare quality, especially among adults. Arya is now a symbol of hope. People now say: ‘Even Arya can lose weight, so why can’t I?"
After being declared the heaviest boy on record by the Indonesian version of the Guinness World Records, Arya also underwent gastric sleeve surgery to help him drop the extra pounds, and is due to undergo another operation to remove his excess skin.
