A man's behavior at his son's first birthday party has caused a divide online, with some saying that his actions are an immediate red flag.
Having a child is a huge milestone and then their first birthday is always cause for a big celebration with as many loved ones as possible.
Not only is it an opportunity to celebrate the baby, but it's a good chance for the parents to give themselves a pat on the back that they've successfully navigated the first year.
Though it would seem that these special occasions don't always go to plan, as one woman on TikTok documented a moment that has tainted her memories of the day.
TikTok user @candie1983 - the mom of the child and the wife of the husband under fire - shared the adorable footage of her baby's first birthday.
The video shows the couple around the baby, trying to convince their son to have some of the 'smash cake' and the dad is being pretty cute about the whole thing.
Fast forward to the end of the video and the entire cake has ended up in the face of the mother, and while it might seem innocent, she did not see the funny side.
Captioning the video, she penned: "The time I wanted to choke my husband for putting out son smash cake in my face, surrounded my family I had just met for the first time. I had long look forward too our son 1st party and the family pictures.
"We didn't get but one photo before I had to shower. Not sure why he thought this was a good idea… I cried like a baby at the memories lost, cake was even cut while I showered [sic]."
It would seem that a simple prank from the husband had a big knock-on effect on the day, and people in the comments were quick to side with the mother.
One person wrote: "I'm so sorry he was disrespectful. Total lack of boundaries."
Another said: "That's immediate divorce!"
While others added that the husband's behavior wasn't good enough, it's worth noting that his wife made a point of what a great dad he is.
Responding to a comment about how cute the father's interaction with his child was, the TikToker responded: "How he did me.. set completely aside… he is a wonderful dad.. very hands-on and loving."
