It's been a whole year since JoJo Siwa has been living her truth.

The 18-year-old YouTube sensation bravely came out as gay in January last year, and has now marked a whole year of being part of the LGBTQ community in a moving Instagram post.

Gushing that she has felt "more love than ever" over the past 12 months, Siwa said she had "no fear" when it came to sharing who she truly is and she hopes to inspire young people to live as their authentic themselves.

"In the last 365 days I've felt more love than ever. A year ago today I posted this picture and shared with the world that I was gay," she began.

"I get asked a lot 'was coming out scary for you'… and the answer is yes of course, anything that’s different about you is scary, however… it's what makes me… me.

"So I had no fear with sharing it with the world. I also get asked a lot 'your demographic is so young are you worried about telling kids your gay.'

"Truthfully I feel like I was put on this earth to be a role model for kids, and letting all the kids of the world know that loving everyone for who they are no matter what is something that I will always believe in and always share."

The teen urged her followers to "never forget" that they are all "absolutely perfect" in their own way.

"Please never forget that no matter who you are, what you look like, who you LOVE, that you are absolutely perfect. thank you for showing me the most love throughout this year and throughout my entire life. I love you all," she added.

After coming out as part of the LGBTQ community last year, Siwa also announced that she was in a relationship with a girl.

Despite the pair's relationship going from strength to strength last year, the couple ultimately called it quits, with Siwa saying it was a case of "right person, wrong time".

Siwa also admitted she was still figuring out how exactly she identifies in an interview last year, but said she feels comfortable with the labels "gay," "queer" and "pansexual."

Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon back in February, Siwa said of her decision to publicly announce her same-sex relationship: "If I lost everything that I’ve created because of being myself and because of loving who I want to love I don’t want it, that’s not what.

"If I can’t love who I want to love, that’s one of the most important things to me."
