A landlord has been called pure evil for sharing a video of the moment he told a tenant that he's doubling her rent.
Raul Bolufe from Miami, Florida, took to his popular TikTok account - where he goes by the handle @therealraulbolufe - to upload a two-part video of himself calling a long-term tenant to tell her he was doubling her rent. And viewers were left confused as to whether he was joking or not.
So far, the two clips have a combined total of 5.9 million views - though, the reaction has been overwhelmingly negative. In the first video, Bolufe is heard introducing himself to a woman on the phone, before telling her that he'd recently purchased the home she's been renting for over 10 years.
He then advises her that he wanted to discuss the rent she's paying, given that he believes the $1,100 she's currently paying each month is a "pretty low price in today's market" for a home in Miami.
The woman on the other end of the phone says she'd like to stay in the home and rent it, at which point Bolufe says "there's houses in that area going for $2,500," but that he would be able to "take the lower end, $2,200" - at double her current rent.
"This has to be a joke," the woman says, adding: "That's over double my current rent. I can't afford that s**t. I have two kids and I'm already working two jobs as it is. Where do you want me to go now?!"
In the second video (AKA 'Part two') Bolufe says that he will give the woman a 30-day eviction notice, before the two engage in a heated exchange. "Pull up to the house, I dare you. We'll be here waiting and it won't be a good time for you. This s**t is ridiculous and you're a con artist," the woman finally says, before hanging up the phone.
In a third and final video, Bolufe films himself sitting outside the home in question as he calls the woman. The pair argue back and forth for a while about the price, before the woman says she will be blocking Bolufe's number and ultimately hangs up on him.
Bolufe likely wasn't expecting the torrent of hate in the comments section. One person called Bolufe "evil" writing: "nahhhh bc this feels evil [sic]."

"This is the problem. GREED. This should be illegal and it is out of hand. The government needs to step in and start regulating the price gouging," another comment read.

A further user chimed in: "Bro though the world would be on his side."
