A woman has shared a video to social media appearing to show her landlord complaining about her property being "filthy" - despite the tenant claiming that it was, in fact, "immaculate".
The video was shared to Twitter by a woman named Hani (@voteforhani), and shows what looks like a landlord making their final flat inspection.
In the clip, which has since been viewed over 750,000 times on the social media platform, the landlord can be seen pointing to various things in the kitchen, while saying to tenant: "If you could take some pictures of dirty things."
To which, Hani explains that she is recording a video and zooming in on anything the landlord points out.
The landlord then looks over at some pretty clean-looking kitchen cupboards, before explaining to Hani that they would need to be cleaned. She then turns her attention to the windows.
Hani captioned the post: "i hate landlords. please watch as mine pretends our absolutely spotless flat is filthy [sic]".
In a follow-up video, Hani showed off more of the apartment - and, I won't lie, it looks pretty darn clean. She wrote alongside the video:
"Everything is immaculate and in full working order! and she had the nerve to say she needs to deduct fees for the place not being clean! who do i write to?! [sic]"
Hani has also stated: "Last month she was asking if we could extend our contract because she didn't think she would find tenants to keep it as tidy as us."
Hani's posts were flooded with people sharing their own stories about how they'd also been ripped off by landlords.
One person tweeted: "One time, my dining room table had a drink ring on it. Landlord went into my flat while I was at work, found it, and told me I would lose my security deposit. I went home and wiped it once and the whole thing came off. It was literally condensation, not a mark.S he was such a rat."
Another person added: "When I left my 1st LA apartment I did a crazy deep cleaning of everything up to the walls, their excuse to not give the full deposit back was "cleaning fee because of pets"...I don't have pets. Now I do the minimum since landlords WILL charge for cleaning no matter how spotless."
And in an effort to protect future renters, one person tweeted: "I’m sure you probably did already but for those who don’t, *always* take your own pictures of a rented property when you move in. Saved me getting ripped off by landlords who hadn’t a leg to stand on a bunch of times."
