After coming out publically as gay last week, TV presenter and This Morning host Philip Schofield has been given a hero's welcome back.

Taking to the cameras while presenting the talent show Dancing on Ice, Schofield was congratulated by the panel of judges, which includes Diversity's Ashley Banjo, John Barrowman, Jayne Torvill, and Christopher Dean.

Banjo stated: "Phil, it's been a big week, a big, big week. You have always been an absolute legend but never, never, ever more so than this week, my friend. I think I speak on behalf of all of us when I say we've got nothing but love and respect for you."

Schofield, clearly overwhelmed, simply nodded as a sign of appreciation.

The 57-year-old TV host took to Instagram to announce that he was gay Instagram on Friday and later went through a candid interview on This Morning with his co-host and friend Holly Willoughby.

In an emotional Instagram statement, Schofield wrote: "You never know what's going on in someone's seemingly perfect life, what issues they are struggling with, or the state of their wellbeing - and so you won't know what has been consuming me for the last few years.

"With the strength and support of my wife and my daughters, I have been coming to terms with the fact that I am gay. This is something that has caused many heart-breaking conversations at home ... My friends are the best, especially Holly, who has been so kind and wise - and who has hugged me as I sobbed on her shoulder."

Schofield has now opened up about his sexuality in this new interview:

He added: "This will probably all come as something of a surprise and I understand, but only by facing this, by being honest, can I hope to find peace in my mind and a way forward. Please be kind, especially to my family."
