During these difficult times, more and more of us have been treating ourselves to a nice meal - after all, what else could go wrong in 2020?
Well, for one man, his romantic dinner date at a Gordan Ramsay Steak restaurant nearly ended in tears after he misread the menu and ended up paying much more than he had intended for a lovely steak dinner.

Explaining his blunder on Reddit, the confused customer explained:
"So my girlfriend and I are in Atlantic City for two nights, our first vacation of any sort since COVID-19 started. We made reservations tonight for outdoor poolside dining at Gordon Ramsay Steak at the Harrah's.
"We were there last year when things were normal and were lucky this was one of the few restaurants open and with good outdoor dining."
Now, like many of us, our unnamed diner decided to treat himself after months in lockdown, and figured he would "splurge" for some delicious Wagyu beef. But then something else caught his eye, as he explains:
"Well, they had real deal Japanese A5 Kobe on the menu - and it was cheaper than American Wagyu! The Kobe was only $35 for 4 oz instead of $80 for 8 oz of Wagyu. So I'm a big guy, I'm hungry, so I order 12 oz of Kobe."
After confessing that he had tried Wagyu twice in his life, but had never had "real deal Kobe", the man - who says he is in his 40s - revealed that the steak lived up to the hype and was "amazing".
"It was like nothing else you’ll ever have. Melt in your mouth delicious," he added.
For the rest of the meal, the diner explained that they couple also ordered a couple of sides, appetizers, and that his girlfriend had Chef Ramsay's "famous beef Wellington for the first time ever."
And being the good-guy that he is, the Redditor then summarized his dinner date by saying: "All in all an amazing meal and we were glad we could support the restaurant and its staff during these challenging times. And I still couldn’t believe Kobe was cheaper than Wagyu!"
However... it was not.

Realizing his error, the customer explains: "I had to read the menu again when the bill came, because for two people, the bill was over $600.00!!!
"Turns out the Japanese A5 was $35 per ounce with a 4 oz minimum purchase size, not $35 for 4 oz.
"So, TL;DR, today I f**ked up by accidentally ordering, and eating, a $420.00 steak."
However, one commenter revealed that he should not be too disheartened, explaining: "What you bought was a $600 story. For the rest of your life, every time someone says 'this is good steak' you can say 'Yeah, but..'"
