Proposing must be a pretty nerve-racking affair. Even when you are certain that the person you are asking to marry you will choose to spend the rest of their life with you, certainty can creep in when it gets closer to the big moment. Even if you have confidence on your side, you know that for such a significant moment, you've got to make it as memorable as possible.

This could mean a big, public gesture, or an intimate romantic evening with just the two of you - it all depends on the kind of person you are marrying. A lot of people end up popping the question in Disneyland, typically in front of Cinderella Castle. One couple even found that they both had this perfect idea - and even proposed to each other at the exact same time.

Another question to ponder is what type of ring to get. There's ways to subtly find out their ring size or what sort of ring they would like, while some will happily offer up their own hints - or you could just go to their close friends to get some hot tips.

Or, if you're anything like Dennis Brown, you could just play it safe and have her choose from a selection.

Dennis, a model and fitness enthusiast, went all out for his proposal. He hired an event planning firm, a florist, a stylist, a professional photographer - and even six different engagement rings for his girlfriend, Atara.

Opening up a heart-shaped box with six rings inside, he offered her the chance to choose her favourite.

Meanwhile, behind a red curtain, he had also made a huge banner, with a heartwarming message for his fiancé. "Today, on your special day I had the pleasure of putting a smile on your face all day," it read. "For there is no greater gift that I could think to give you."

"A woman, whose heart is full of love and devotion to me, a woman whose loyalty to all those she loves stands unmatched, a woman whose generosity and willingness to help others around her flourish knows no depths."

"A woman who single-handedly made me believe that a soulmate, a lover, a prayer warrior, a confidant and a best friend could be wrapped up in one amazingly beautiful soul that was handcrafted for me.

"That’s why today I wanted to give you the greatest gift that I could ever give you… my heart and soul completely, unwavering and all yours… will you accept and hold my hand in yours through this journey?"

Atara said yes, and - if any of you were wondering - she eventually chose the teardrop-shaped engagement ring out of the six options.

Now, if only all of us had the money to go out and spend that much on the big moment, and six whole rings just to make sure she got the one she liked the best!
