McDonald's is the place that has seen it all, and yet it is also a place where new surprises happen all the time, and that doesn't just include new items on the menu.

Most of us will be guilty of stopping for a sneaky McDonald's on the way home from work now and then, as the much-loved menu remains a fan favorite.

Nobody goes to a fast-food restaurant and hopes for a fine dining experience, but basic cleanliness is important to most diners and McDonald's is no exception.

But what would you do if you saw a dog sitting on top of a table where people eat? An image shared on Reddit shows exactly this and it has divided viewers.

The Redditor penned alongside the image: "Who doesn’t love some dirty dog anus on their Maccas table?"

It's a fair question to ask as the image clearly shows a small dog happily sitting on top of the table, apparently trying to join in with its owner's conversation.

It's unclear how often the tables at McDonald's are wiped down, though it is important to note that staff does ensure the cleanliness of their restaurants.

But the thought of a dog's butt on the table, even after being wiped, might be enough to put some diners off of their meal.

People flocked to the comments to offer their thoughts, and it would seem that a lot are unpleased at seeing the dog sitting on the table.

"Taking dogs to restaurants and just being inside generally should not be a thing unless they're a guide dog. This "take my dog everywhere with me" culture is weird. Leave it at home," one person penned, with another reminding them that there are other types of service dogs.

"I love animals but that is rank lol," a second added, which seemed to be echoed by a large number of other comments.

Not everyone was put off by the image, as another viewer said: "Nothing a quick spray and wipe can't fix, just like all the other years of filth and abuse that table has most likely had."
