With a supermodel and celebrity like Ashley Graham being so open and candid about her experiences with pregnancy, and comedian Amy Schumer discussing her experiences with IVF and a very tough pregnancy with her fans on Instagram, we're perhaps more aware of the realities of life as an expectant mother than ever before.

Yes, as more and more high profile individuals discuss their own experiences, the rest of the world can identify with them more and feel more comfortable in embracing their own challenges and bodily changes.

Amy Schumer shares a candid post-surgery video after undergoing an egg retrieval procedure:

Well, recently BuzzFeed and other media outlets spoke to New Jersey parents Syman and Lindsay Hay, who became parents to quadruplets around seven months ago and already have a 4-year-old son named Carson.

Per BuzzFeed, Lindsay said she was put on an injectable hormone called Follistim;

"The theory behind the drugs was that if I produced more than one egg each cycle, I’d 'catch' a good one faster. We were to try this, plus timed intercourse six times, before moving on to IVF. I conceived the quads on Cycle 3 of this treatment."

She says that when they found out they would be having quadruplets they were in total shock, "I was in a lot of denial because I was told I had poor egg quality, and I just couldn’t believe it. My husband was silent and white as a ghost," she said, adding "I honestly didn’t think the pregnancy would progress, and prepared myself for miscarriage. There was just a lot of uncertainty, fear, and surprise."

Indeed, per the Today show, some of Hay's doctors were concerned and urged her to consider a selective pregnancy reduction.

“It was very somber in that ultrasound room,” she told TODAY Parents. “I’m 5-foot-2 and was about 115 pounds at the time and they said my body wouldn’t be able to handle it. They were very adamant about it being unsafe.”

Yet on July 23, 2019, Hay welcomed Caiden Michael, Madison Grace, Lucas Willam and Grayson James into the world.

And last month, she took to Instagram to share a brilliant side-by-side picture - one showing her with her third trimester baby bump, and the other her holding her four adorable kids.

"IN & OUT DAY! I carried these sweet babies for 30 weeks and 4 days on the inside and here they are at 30 weeks and 4 days on the outside! Full hands, full heart is an understatement! They have surpassed every hope and dream I had envisioned during my pregnancy and even though time is passing quickly I know the best is yet to be. Behind these babies are new marks, rolls, and skin you can’t see but they also came with new strengths I didn’t have before either. We have been so BLESSED and I won’t ever let myself take this life for granted. ? #strongasamother"she captioned the post.

Congratulations to Syman and Lindsay Hay!
