You may think that going to the movie theater is a pretty private activity — I mean, you sit in a dark room, possibly for hours, amid perfect strangers. But it can also be rather expensive, especially when you factor in the hiked-up prices of popcorn and sodas.

So, you're not alone if you've tried to cut costs by bringing in your own treats. Surely, once you manage to sneak them past security, you're able to enjoy them in the privacy of your own seats?

Well, apparently not. One movie theater worker has taken to TikTok to reveal that staff have secretly been watching their audiences the whole time.

In a viral clip posted by TikTok user @.no1headache, the Vue cinema worker shared that there is actually a way for staff to see inside the individual screens and watch what the audiences get up to while they watch their films — arguably for security purposes.

The employee claimed that there are CCTV cameras that shoot inside the eight screens in their cinema.

Understandably, the video, which was captioned "we see everything!", went wild, and has been viewed over 16.5 million times on the video-sharing platform.

The TikToker alleged that they had literally seen everything during their time working at Vue, writing: "When people come to the cinema with their sneaky link to do the nasty."

They then zoomed in on security footage that showed live images of inside the cinema screens. And in the comments section, they doubled down, writing, "We also have night vision goggles so we’ve seen it all."

Unfortunately, the viral video didn't seem to have paid off for the content creator, who later claimed in the comments: "I GOT FIRED!"

Viewers just couldn't believe that they had been duped for so long, and expressed their shock. "I’m just concerned because I’ve been throwing popcorn at the back of people’s heads for fun," wrote one TikTok user, while another stated, "You’re telling me the time I snuck in a large pizza they’ve been watching me eat???”

"This is actually good to know in case of emergencies. I honestly had no idea, I thought you could get away with murder in there lol," a third wrote.
